Piranha tooth bar!!!

Do you own a Piranha tooth bar?

I do not own a Piranha tooth bar. I bought a RatchetRake when they first came out and the Piranha came out a few years later. I offered the inventor/manufacturer/distributor to use and evaluate a Piranha for no charge if he'd send me a free test model but alas he declined my kind and generous offer and decided to just sell them to people.
I tried a bolt on toothed bar several years ago and it was more of a bother to ME than a help so I sold it. I like the looks and design of the Piranha except for the bolting and unbolting aspect for installing and uninstalling. Can't think of another way to do it though since it needs real structural integrity to do what it's designed and bought to do. The RatchetRake can be installed and removed by a single (me) person in about 2 minutes but it has lower teeth which keeps it from being able to go straight into a pile or wall of dirt/gravel/etc. The RatchetRake is great for patches of small trees, briars and weeds but I mostly use mine for leveling out roughed ground or rounding off high spots. Mine stays on my tractor most of the time and I remove it when I'm moving piles of dirt.
That's the long answer to I don't own a Pirinha but would if I didn't own a RatchetRake. I'd still do some testing and evaluating and reporting if one arrived (NOT COD) in the mail.

I'm still undecided on which bar. Its always the same story, if one owns it, its the best thing since sliced bread.

I am between the rachet rake, which I ordered 3 weeks ago from CT, but did not put anything down on it. I really thought it would be in by now.

Does anyone have a youtube or video on the Piranha in use? I would like to see the soil and a BX using it if I could.

That's actually what I need to do is dig for a retaing wall. How is it in clay? I would like to dig about 20' at least a foot deep or more. I've put off getting bucket teeth because I didn't want to drill holes in my bucket.

With a tooth bar you only drill 1 hole in each side as a simple retainer. Mine are only 3/8" and after 6 years of hard usage the holes are still 3/8" with no slop.
GO FOR IT! You can not believe the difference, full bucket every time, and you think you actually added 50% more HP.

You'll like it, I got one over a year ago for putting in a 800sq. Ft. Patio. I dug down 15 inches in hard clay and put in 30 tons of class 5 ( I layed down SS5 fabric to keep clay from mixing with class 5). I also used it last fall and dug 3 4ft x 4ft holes 2 ft deep in solid clay for 3 18' b&b trees I was planting. I never even had to leave the seat. I was amazed at how easy I dug them. The year before I was planting 3 6ft. B&b pine trees, my bucket barely dug 6" down. I ended up digging them with a pick axe while my tractor sat watching.

I ordered a Piranha toothbar on June 27th - and the UPS guy just dropped it off this afternoon. I'm using the 54" SSQA bucket from the new Kubota Bxx50 series - on my B3200. Turns out the dimensions of the 54" bucket from the Bxx50 is slightly different than that on the pin on 54" bucket for the LA504. I talked with Harry at Bxpanded - explained to him that I had a new bucket - and he just asked for some dimensions and drawings - and got me a toothbar that appears to fit right on. I may have to put a washer or two between the trackets and the bucket side to get it all to snug down - but it fit right on like it was meant to.

Bought a Piranha earlier this year for my Yanmar 186D. Gave them measurements....they cut to fit and it installed easily. Really like this tooth bar. Dug out a hill along side my long driveway. Have cleared lots of blackberry bushes.....worked great. Nice folks to deal with....good solid bar.....wearing out the teeth will not be an issue. I'd recommend this product.

I have been looking at tooth bars. I have never owned one. I like the sharp edges on the Piranha bar. I think the sharp edges would be good shaving down saplings and brush where the brush is growing from the woods into the pastures. Just wonder how long these sharp edges would stay sharp on a Piranha bar. Is it better or as good as a Long tooth bar for dirt work?

I can't speak for the long tooth bar.....I can tell you the teeth on my Piranha are sharp as ever and that's after digging in hard clay soil along my driveway for well over 150 yrds. Also....cleared lots of blackberries and small saplings with the bar.....sharpe as it was when brand new. I guess you could also sharpen bar if need be.......I just don't see where I will need to. This bar is a very strong product. :2cents:

Hey Whistlepig! The Piranaha teeth look sharp but they aren't razor. They do great at digging, grabbing roots, vines (like ivy) and ripping them out. I am not sure what you are thinking but are you wondering how the teeth 'grab' above ground? I don't have the situation to test that but I wouldn't count on it to replace a grapple or bucket w/thumb. If you are talking about ripping brush out just below the surface, then it is a winner.
