Great video presentation. I like that.

My take on the bends set up the way they are have more to do with tire clearance and still getting standard cat 1 distances at the tips, than it has to do with what is straight with the world at the balls at the tips of the arms. Figuring the quick taches on the ends prolly wasn't part of the design equation. :)

But I'd just go with an iMatch and have the best of both worlds....just my opinion :)

Yes, the end links are the ball mounts on the ends of the draft arms. Referring to my previous post, the second picture is with the arms all the way down. You can see the end link is angled in to line up parallel with the end link on the other draft arm. The first picture is with the arms up, and the end link looks tilted because it is. If the end link in that first picture had been angled at a 90 degree bend instead of the small angle it is, it would be approaching horizontal at full lift while the long part of the draft arm would still be vertical.

It does sound like there is something strangely wrong with your draft arms. I measured the offset you requested and it is 3 and 1/8 inches. The camera position makes the board look warped, but it really is straight.

As shown in attachments, my standard style draft arms are perfectly vertical in up or down positions. The end links, because they are in a different plane, are only vertical when in the down position. It may mean nothing, but JD did change part numbers for the draft arms at one time, although that new number is now shown for both style lifts. The drawings, again not always completely accurate, do show different sets of holes between the two types. Your draft arms look to be the same as mine.

Late model 755 tractors advertised a higher lift capacity than early ones. 1005 vs 785 pounds at 24 inches behind the end links. I never knew how they did that, but perhaps there is simply a different geometry with where the lift links attach. My draft arms are 25 inches long between link centers, and the lift links attach 12 inches back from the end link centers. The JD Parts drawing for the Hi Lift seems to show two sets of draft arm holes vs my one set for different lift link mounting. Maybe you have a mismatch between your draft arms and lift links, and need that other hole position.

I measured the lift for my draft arms. They are 30.5 inches in float position, and 32.5 in non-float position. A different set of holes could provide increased lift, but then maybe my draft arms would not line up vertically.

After all that, I will just say do what ever positions the draft arms as vertical as possible with what you have.

Just a minor correction here. The max lift is 30.5 in either float or non-float. The lift links should always pull up on the pin through the draft arm. The higher number had the movable float clips in an inverted position where the pull would be on the clips, not the pin. Otherwise, hope your draft arm work is progressing.

Thanks. No, I got busy with other stuff and the tractor has been sitting. I'll be gettting back to it though!

Can anyone tell me the eye-eye length of the fixed lift arm on the 655/755/855? Thanks!

The eye to eye length along the bent arm lower draft links measured with a tape measure is close to 26 inches. My adjustable top link is currently set at 23 inches. Hope this answers your question.

That is helpful, though I am specifically looking for the distance in red. Thanks!

OK. I wasn't sure before which dimension you wanted. That dimension is 17 inches.
