The Deere got lighter, Kubota has always been just under 10k.

Funny how suddenly once a light weight spec is on a Deere people stop asking if its "too light".

I didn't realize that Neal. Thanks for the info!!!

I started out looking at a JD 6D series but the transmission quickly tossed that choice out. Then I built the JD 6M I wanted and the equivalent Kubota Grand X - both power shift. The JD was a lot higher priced but that is list and our JD dealer usually gives a much higher percentage off list than does the Kubota. That turned out to be true when I sat down and haggled - the Kubota was about $7k less so I made the deal. A month later I got my quarterly JD ad and they are throwing in a free loader through the end of July with all 6M series. That would have put them right in the ballpark and I might ave gone green like our other large tractors. As it is I like the Kubota 8 speeds per range much better than our JD's 4 speeds per range.

I drove a 6115D and a M126GX today.

I am a JD guy so the 6115D felt right except the lack of gears in the trans.

The M126GX is a totally different. The cab is nice. I like the sunroof - better for loading 18 wheelers of hay.
I like the skid steer carrier.
I don't like the controls on the right side of the seat.
I liked the AC on the cluster.
Having to put the emissions into auto mode every time seems dumb.
The sales guy couldnt tell me about cleaning the radiator, etc. I noticed in the brochure it slides out to clean.
Quad headlights are cool.

Right now 6115D with loader -> $73K or so.
M126GX with loader -> $77K or so.

I am still sorting thru the options on the Kubota. I could see myself buying orange.

Has the finish gotten any better on them? It is amazing how bad they fade down here in Texas. They all seem to look pink within 3 years. Comments?

Thanks,
D.

From the Kubota comparison site - looks like JD is 1K heavier.

JD needs to do something about the trans.

I might have to get a M126GX out for demo. Extra $3K rebate on them right now.

Getting one for a demo would be good so you can see if it's comfortable for you in the field. Can you get the instructor seat on the Kubota? Can't help on the paint fading, I know I used to see pictures of faded Kubotas but haven't really seen any lately. How's that for reliable advice? Lol

You can get the instructional seat. It is not very well thought out. The JD one is much better.

There is no retractor on either side of the belt. The one on the door side is long enough to get stuck in the door, etc. It is almost so bad I am not sure I would get it if that tells you anything. I might upgrade the seatbelt to something along the lines of the JD.

Are there any in cab monitor mounts? I dont remember seeing any in there.

I want to mount a GPS and Hay baler monitor.

Yes, Kubotas fade even up here in Minnesota. I had a L3710 for 9 years and it looked fine but ot was shredded every evening. Some relatively new ones on my dealers lot have looked terrible.

No monitor mounts, at least nothing in the book or on the spec sheets.

I no longer have a spec sheet on the Deere 6D to compare from. Once I saw the transmission availability I ruled it out and only retained the 6M.

If you are a Deere person and have been happy with them I don't think you would be happy with the Kubota. We have all brands and this one came down to dealer and price. Deere is forcing our 2 closest dealers to sell out to larger multiple store dealers. The two best mechanics at the one where we bought our 7720, baler and MoCo have quit in the last month. The dealer where we bought our 6630 last year has to make a deal with the dealer has selected to buy him out by the end of the year. Dealer change is a real concern and Deere was out of line on their price. Our Kubota dealer also sells New Holland and he steered me to the Kubota.

I hear ya - but I bought a Kubota SVL75 over a Deere this year. I wish that 6D had more of a transmission in it. Before the cab upgrades for 2013 I would not even consider the 6D. The transmission still bugs me. That push button transmission action on the M126GX is pretty slick.

What do people do for monitor mounts? Suction cups?

They want to be int he Ag business with no monitor mounts - seems pretty fundamental to me.

Also, I like my John Deere dealer but the guys at Zimmerman Kubota have been good also. Deere might loose me on this one.

Also - the 5M is more than the 6D. The 6M is out of sight. Of course a loaded M126GX is getting up there also.
