I started out looking at a JD 6D series but the transmission quickly tossed that choice out. Then I built the JD 6M I wanted and the equivalent Kubota Grand X - both power shift. The JD was a lot higher priced but that is list and our JD dealer usually gives a much higher percentage off list than does the Kubota. That turned out to be true when I sat down and haggled - the Kubota was about $7k less so I made the deal. A month later I got my quarterly JD ad and they are throwing in a free loader through the end of July with all 6M series. That would have put them right in the ballpark and I might ave gone green like our other large tractors. As it is I like the Kubota 8 speeds per range much better than our JD's 4 speeds per range.
I drove a 6115D and a
M126GX today.
I am a JD guy so the 6115D felt right except the lack of gears in the trans.
The
M126GX is a totally different. The cab is nice. I like the sunroof - better for loading 18 wheelers of hay.
I like the skid steer carrier.
I don't like the controls on the right side of the seat.
I liked the AC on the cluster.
Having to put the emissions into auto mode every time seems dumb.
The sales guy couldnt tell me about cleaning the radiator, etc. I noticed in the brochure it slides out to clean.
Quad headlights are cool.
Right now 6115D with loader -> $73K or so.
M126GX with loader -> $77K or so.
I am still sorting thru the options on the Kubota. I could see myself buying orange.
Has the finish gotten any better on them? It is amazing how bad they fade down here in Texas. They all seem to look pink within 3 years. Comments?
Thanks,
D.
