This is a ton of work. We have been on the job for three weeks now and the bulk of the work has been creating the pieces that together make it art and building the backbone that will make it as tough as it is attractive.

The first photo is of the driver's side side rail in place. The bolts holding the side rails are also what secures the bed deck. The framework at the front is for the winch.

The second photo is of an individual link. Daryl who is a very accomplished tig welder is having fits using my equipment. He's used to clean shop conditions and the latest tig welding machines. Here we have hot chick inspectors and the welding machine is a Dialarc 250 with an old old high freq box and the torch is an air cooled scratch start. The link is 1 1/4" (1 5/8" o.d.) schedule forty aluminum 6061 tubing, two 180 degree bends welded together.

We've had quite a bit of wind the last couple of days which has encouraged Daryl's expansion of crude language to describe his working conditions. Photo 3 shows him in the tool are instead of the breezeway.

We had some stuff water jet cut at Fabtech in Rockwall, TX. The state of Texas with the holes is in an 18" diameter area. The 32 holes are for LEDs, brake and tail. Client wants anyone following to know that he is from Texas and he is hitting his brakes or about to turn.

The ramps will be carried under the floor. The two long ramps have the vertical sides boxed for additional strength. Factory rating is 300 lbs at center point in an eight foot span. That met our expected needs but wanted to make sure extreme circumstances could be handled. The short ramps are for the front of the bed carrying the Razr. We needed to raise the front of the Razr for carrying on an 8' 4" deck. The front brush guard will ride above the rear window. The winch cable will be routed vertical to an additional fairhead so to accommodate the ramp concept.

The front half hoop protects the fuel inlet for the truck. We decided to carry the chain concept through the headache rack. There will be Texas designs and stars in those links too.
