Thanks guys. One of the things I learned a long time ago was how to install the oval lights we put on truck beds and trailers. This client likes lights. He is happier than a pup with two tails at a tail wagging contest to live in a time when we have LEDs. Each one of these lights has 24 LEDs, so does the back up lights. The Texas tail-brake lights has 3 LEDs per bulb and there are 32 bulbs.

Here's the way I do it. 2 1/2 inch hole saw cuts on 4 1/4 inch centers. Then I cut cut out the material between the holes. The black spot is where the back up sensor goes. We're also going to install the camera that was in the tail gate in the new bed, wife's truck, she insists upon the niceties she had before the conversion.

The truck bed is coming together. Today the airbags are plumbed and wired up, onboard compressor. We also hope to get the rear compartment door installed. It will house the camera and hide-secure the four ramps housed under the deck.

Its very cool. But really, all this to carry a Polaris? I am reminded of the old expression - You can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig.

No Jim, carrying the Polaris is the excuse to build a cool bed.

We did a test load of the Razr this morning. We are doing all of the detail stuff, tons of detail stuff, so it can go to the powder coater by Friday.

The ramps go up under the bed and when pulled out can't slip or twist when loading, just another serious detail.

After lunch today the bed was loaded up on to the trailer and hauled over to Carrollton where Quality Powdercoating lives. It is going to be bathed, blasted, covered with silver metal flake and then clear, total of four trips through the oven $2,000.00. The stars and Texas in the chain will be done in black metal flake as will be the light inserts in the headache rack. When he applies the brakes 384 LED bulbs will celebrate the best they can. Client sees too much as just enough.

The rear tail gate not only holds the original tail gate camera, it also hides two three foot ramps and two 100 inch ramps. The big ramps have a pretty trick system we designed that locks them in place when they are lowered, no slip, no twist, security guaranteed.

We pick her up next Thursday and installation begins, I figure three days with all of the wiring etc. Oh, "her", that's easy, never seen a butt like that on a boy.

One of the fun things about being a welder is we can use things over and over, and over again. The custom cart we made for handling the bed in the shop and at the powder coater was just a couple of weeks ago ten year old multi-purpose sawhorses that found some wheels and became somebody.
