Oxymoron? I'm confused

Actually harbor freight winches were tested against warn and a few other big names by FOUR WHEELER magazine and the Harbor freight winches won ! What they found was the user's were running the winches at full load and kept there finger on the trigger until they all burned out at some point ,When used correctly in 20-30 second bursts with a few minute cool down in between full load pulls most all of them were the same ! You can't run any winch at full load for long .

Who are they made by? I have a Warn 2500 on my Sportsman, will either be another Warn, or a Runva when it needs replacing!!

I wonder how many HF winches they had to test to get that result. My dad bought two compressors from them. First Never worked just smoked. Second last him about 10 minutes over 2 weeks and stopped. My brother in law just bought their 7 ton electric splitter it last for 45 minutes before blowing the breaker on the house repeatedly and smoking. I have a couple of their pry bars that are U shaped. The 4 1/2 angle grinder that had all the bolts loose on it. I'm sorry but if i no longer buy Hazard fraught equipment. If i buy something i expect it to last. How About Ramsey Winches i believe they are still made in the USA

Ok,
So I don't have a lot of faith in a lot of the HF stuff.
But, $300 for a 12K winch (with coupon) at HF is hard to beat.

Most of the similar rated Warn (and other brand) winches are over $1000, although Northern Tools lists a similar Warn for $750

Anyway, hopefully you don't need all that pulling power. But, I wouldn't trust an HF 2000 lb winch, especially when your time is apparently so limited.

Now, if you're planning on loaning the Ranger to your friends to go dump in a lake and leave it... then perhaps you should invest in the Cadillac model.

You guys and your one (or two liners) had me laughing so much (just now), I forgot why I am upset!
When I arrived at the Polaris this past week I found two HF winches covered with mud.
These guys burned one out and had torn the gear blade off another.

In the back of the Polaris were two dead batteries of which one
was a new one I purchased for the Polaris. So $99 gone there. Looking around
I had seen a kids red and yellow plastic wagon and now figured they pulled it with
the batteries until it sunk in the mud.
Then I saw my Commerical Skil saw which was totally covered in mud. Now I have to add this
to the list of things they destroyed. I think I will sell the place!

Whose kids are they?

I am not sure I am clear on these guys who you trusted with your high dollar toys are?
Are they buddies?
Employees?
Neighbors?
Some hicks who walked off of the street and you handed the key to them?
:confused3:
