living here in east Tn i would say many are getting their carry permits but I would bet 8 out of 10 trucks running these back roads have at least 1 under the seat
In Mo.. you could always get away with carrying a handgun in your car as long as it was not "concealed". Of course if you were ever stopped you could always "UN-conceale" it. Lots of us Hillbillys did just that. Of course now it is legal for anyone to carry concealed in their vehicle either anywhere in the vehicle, or even on their person as long as they don't step out of the car with it concealed on their person unless they have the CCW permit. Thank God, and good sense Mo. has never been a terribly restrictive state about these things.. and somehow we all manage to not kill each other.. imagine that.. Of course crime is much higher in our two biggest cities KC and STL. But we have our pot growers and meth makers out here in the countryside too. But the majority of our citizens are good people, and we are all armed out here in the sticks... bet on it.
