Firearm Transport Question

living here in east Tn i would say many are getting their carry permits but I would bet 8 out of 10 trucks running these back roads have at least 1 under the seat

In Mo.. you could always get away with carrying a handgun in your car as long as it was not "concealed". Of course if you were ever stopped you could always "UN-conceale" it. Lots of us Hillbillys did just that. Of course now it is legal for anyone to carry concealed in their vehicle either anywhere in the vehicle, or even on their person as long as they don't step out of the car with it concealed on their person unless they have the CCW permit. Thank God, and good sense Mo. has never been a terribly restrictive state about these things.. and somehow we all manage to not kill each other.. imagine that.. Of course crime is much higher in our two biggest cities KC and STL. But we have our pot growers and meth makers out here in the countryside too. But the majority of our citizens are good people, and we are all armed out here in the sticks... bet on it.

Whew, these laws are confusing! Must have been lawyers who wrote this mess. Anyway, I keep mine in me truck when traveling, in a safe place locked up. But I like having it. I guarantee you the thugs will have theirs with them!

hey, James in Branson, great man! I like that kind of law. We should be able to have firearms with us. Maybe concealed might need a permit, but I a.ways thought second amendment gives us the right to keep and BEAR arms. Knucklehaid lawyers again I reckon (not all of y'all lawyers are jerks).

I travel with mine on the center console of the truck ,I'm not going looking for it if the need arises ! walking around I carry a S&W air weight hammer less .38 spl revolver in my front pocket , If I need more than 5 shots I"m really in the wrong place !:thumbsup:

I didn't read all the posts, so I do not know if this has been addressed.

First, the OP can takes his firearm into and through Pa.
He can take unloaded and stored in the trunk ammo separate, basically in accordance to federal law.
Since the op has a Ohio ccw he can also transport the gun loaded and concealed on his person while in his vehicle. Pa will recognize any other states carry permit under this narrow circumstance. The op cannot carry the gun concealed once exiting the vehicle without a recognized carry permit. Pa is an open carry state however, so technically the Op can openly display his firearm without a permit anywhere a firearm is allowed while on foot except in Philly. If the OP travels into Pa often I would recommend getting a non resident pa ltcf. You need to apply in person, but it's only $20, and many sheriffs issue instantly. Problem solved.

Maryland is a very very anti gun state. And contrary to what many think transporting a firearm in accordance to federal transportation law is only lawful for interstate travel not intrastate travel. Anti states live to exploit this. If you travel through MD with a handgun be sure to not stop but drive straight through. Don't spend the night, or do any sight seeing. Although reasonable stops are suppose to be covered I would avoid it if at all possible. Gas, food, etc. Just drive through. Personally I would go around MD if feasible.

Sorry, but I would consider your original post NVA (Non Value Added) to the subject of the original question. I can appreciate that may be your opinion, but you have to admit that in the middle of this particular discussion, it came across as wanting to start something.

Again, I appreciate your opinion, but your suggestion is out of the question.

Thanks for the details Gods Country. I plan on getting the PA permit in the near future and I probably will just avoid Maryland. I'm going to use some of the resources others have provided in this thread before making up my mind though.

I'm not and wasn't trying to 'start something' as you put it. I was offering a different point of view, which you, and many others don't want to hear in most threads of this nature. Why is it necessary to carry any weapon wherever you go? You all discuss keeping your mouths shut about whether you even have a weapon with you if stopped by LE. What value is added by carrying a weapon in the first place? Are you so afraid that someone else is going to whip out a weapon and shoot you that you need to feel 'safe' by beating them to the first shot? If so, a little less paranoia might be a value added concept.

I can understand the NVA description as it was "how do I", not "should I".

As to "needing to" that is for each of to decide and it appears all responding have passed that decision point and I am not inclined to elaborate on mine or call others into question.
