'13 MX5100HST, '82 B7100HST
Hi guys, lurked here for awhile and read a ton before I finally made up my mind. I've ordered a new Kubota MX5100HST with pallet forks and backhoe. Excited to beat the Tier IV garbage, the greenies can suck it. I say hopefully in the title because the tractor isn't in my possession yet as everything is on order. Waiting for all stuff to come in (HD bucket, hoe subframe, and R1 Ag tires) before I can go get it. Being told around mid september. Just wanted to thank everyone here for all the useful posts. This is my first tractor, the plan is for us to use it while we are building our new house on our newly purchased 54 wooded acres. The MX5100 seemed to be a sweet spot in new tractors. I currently heat my home with pellets and we order 6 ton a year and they're a bear to get in the garage with my current man powered pallet jack, so this thing should really make me smile when it comes time for that chore this year. I ordered from Messicks in PA, and with the money I saved over all my local dealers I was able to afford the backhoe, which will make all the power / cable / drainage / septic holes MUCH easier on the new property. I've got some mods planned for as soon as she gets home. I've got a set of 6" ID KC Daylighter flood lights to install, and seriously considering a straight pipe exhaust. Nothing beats the sound of a turbo diesel. I'll also be welding some hooks and a hitch to the bucket. I will also be loading my tires and making a ballast box for when the hoe's off.

Forgot to say I'll also be installing the backhoe, it was cheaper that way. Anyone here ever done one?

You are a BRAVE first time tractor buyer.

Great tractor appropriate to your acreage. I am jealous.

No, didn't install one myself, but I had a similar one installed on my tractor. You're looking at maybe 2,000 lbs of steel, so you'll need something to move the components around as you assemble. Also, the subframe is heavy and requires precise alignment when installing. A garage with smooth, level floor, I suspect. And maybe a bud who owes you a favor to help out. Do-able if you're set up to handle it.

Great purchase, by the way!

congrats on the mx5100 not to burst your bubble but you should have looked at an M series because the 5100 will not lift a full skid of anything my 7040 wouldn't do it I had the dealer adjust the hydro pressure

Hey neighbor,

Welcome to TBN!

Congratulations on your new motorvator!

Does the MX5100 come with quick attach? or are you planning that mod too?

Do you have any forks scoped out yet to move those pallets?

Don't let Mr. Case get you down, because whether or not you can move a "full pallet" (depends on definition doesn't it?) I'm sure that you will find it a load off your back compared with restacking whole pallet loads by hand.

If my little 'Bota B2320 can improve my life as much as it has, I sure it's bigger cousin will do the same for you!

Happy and safe tractoring!
Thomas

Wow! Nice... I know you will fall in love with your BH. I love mine on my little BX and so glad I didn't settle without it! AS PhysAssit mentioned, it sounds like you will definitely want a quick attach based on your situation.
