I've been watching out for heavy equipment auctions, not the Ebay crap, but real auctions. This past week there was a big one in Shreveport, LA that had a lot of equipment, trucks, and trailers. I managed to get a pretty nice deal on a, new to me, gooseneck trailer.

I called the manufacturer, gave them the VIN, and they were able to pull the build sheet on it.
Built in 2006 about 40 miles from my ranch
27' plus a 5' dovetail for a total length of 32 feet
Tandem duals with upgraded heavy duty 10,000 pound axles (larger bearings and hubs)
Upgraded 4" brakes
Upgraded springs
Full torsion tube
Good tires
All the lights work except for 2 side markers
Good strong brakes
Good deck with 1/3rd of it replaced with steel

All in all a pretty nice trailer which I picked up for a nice deal; $4,200.

Sweet trailer!
That's less then I paid for my new Delta 25 ft goose neck with 7000 lb axels a couple of years ago. A used trailer up this way is usually all rust because of the salt so I bought new and under coated with Fluid Film but try not to pull it in the winter if I can help it.
My Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 gasser would probably grunt a little pull that beast of a trailer!

My F250 with the V-10 was fine on the flat highway with that load of hay on it. Your truck would be ok also.
When I hit some bigger hills it was running pretty hard. I figure I was hauling 12,000 pounds of hay plus the trailer.

Nice buy. Curious how you will like the dual tandems over time? I had one and now have a tri axle. So much easier for maintaining.

Hmmmm, how are three axles easier to maintain than two Chris?? No expert here, totally curious.
