I finally broke down and bought a deck over with a beaver tail.

Maybe I cannot tell from your photos but that trailer looks like a dovetail to me. A beavertail would have the angled rear outside frame with an inset deck that would lift to level out the deck. Nice trailer though.

So a beaver tail pops up to continue the flat deck? Learned something new today, I always thought the terms where interchangeable.

That is a long a-frame on that trailer. Good for your box but adds to the length. Most are only about 4' to the ball.

The trailer was a custom build for a mud racing jeep that was to wide for a low deck between the wheels. The longer frame that can accommodate a full size job box works out very well for me. The added length doesn't affect me at all personally and only makes it easier to chase when I back it up.

Perhaps it is a regional thing but I see Xfaxman's trailer to be a true beavertail. No matter, as long as everyone is happy right?

I think it is regional, since the manufacture in northwest Arkansas calls it a Dovetail.

Mine is option 1, 4 foot Dovetail. Equipment trailers from Delta Single Wheel Flatbeds
