Lastly (for now) one of the reasons I still don't consider EA implements in the same league as the real heavy duty equipment lines, is the awkward, over marketed naming system you guys use. It sounds more like your trying to use the fancy names to sell your equipment, rather than rely on the good quality, American made product with excellent customer support that you really are. I think you should drop the silly name game and rely on the good service and good products you already provide. You guys seem to be a top notch company, and when I see something like "severe extreme heavy duty" and "the beast" or a "super box" it just casts an image of a cheap, fly by night sales pitch that you see on late night television.
Come up with standard, professional sounding, models names and numbers and drop the marketing scam sounded names. You guys are beyond that now, your a professional company with a great business plan, but your product names don't make it look that way. That's one (maybe the ONLY) reason I don't consider anything you sell to be truly in the same league as the other well respected implement manufacturers.
Just my .02

I think they like catchy names. You don't see that in established recognizeable manufacturers. Maybe they'll grow out of it.

After this blade, he will make some "superboxes"(I like that name) that are more in line with the gannon with options like retractable shanks and hinged backs.
.

I like that name also....!!
If its the heaviest box out there....
Good feedback.....mostly....

Here are the latest pics. The prototype is being cut now. 2,122 pounds, 8 scarifiers, Cat 2&3 Quick Hitch compatible.

Harry Gant's TL90 New Holland that Ted is planning to use for the video has been turned up to 108 PTO HP so we'll see what happens!!
We should be able to do a video soon.

From the picture and the aspect angle of the drawing that looks to be of the much narrower design model (72-84") not the wider version. I would think another fore/aft support would be a very good idea on the wider models. I know that my heavy duty models have additional "stringers" on the wider stuff. Most manufacturers add the additional supports as they add width.

Absolutely correct. The fake made-up names that are not representative of the implement not only are misleading they turn some folks (the analytical types not the emotional impulse buyers) away as they lose trust (or never get trust) in the company's representation of their product. EA makes some fantastic equipment priced correctly and is a great source for the buyer to look at when they are researching implements to purchase. I had a very favorable impression of EA and their products up to the past year when there was a marketing push for one of their new implements that drove me to lose that favorable impression and that was based almost entirely on their marketing and potentially misleading claims.

My best recommendation is to get back to dealing the old style way and forget this fancy name catching marketing scheme. If it is coming from some new advertising graduate's idea of how to do business fire them! If it is Ted's, go back to the old way of doing business. It worked for more companies for more years than the glitz and glam has been around.

Let's hope so. :D

Following this thread for a week I feel like a MIDWIFE.

Here is THE BEAST so far.

The 96" is projected to weigh 1,900 pounds.
44" depth, 30" tall back.
Front tube is 6x6 3/8" tubing.
Category 2 and 3 Quick Attach Compatible Hitch.
Hitch and sides are 1/2" thick.
Mold boards consist of two 3/8" thick plates.
Cutting edges are 5/8"x8" viper blades...US made and largest in the industry.
Shanks are 1" thick x 4" wide and built in house. Weld on tips made from AR400

This blade will have fixed shanks. He will develop future models with retractable shanks and floating tailgate. He is starting with the biggest and baddest and will fill the gap later.
Here are some drawings. What do you think?

Looks like a great start but as you guys defintley are going for broke on this one. Definitely more box blade than i could need "The Beast" looks to be appropriate. But i agree with MtnViewRanch said "Shouldn't you be using a tower similar to the Gannon?" This would allow you to include both Hydraulically retractable shanks and pinned on the same design. Hopefully this will be the case on the slightly smaller 1200 1500 lb models your talking about. I also want to see this thing in action. I think OVRSZD may have also mentioned the floating tailgate more the smaller model.

I'm very interested in your future somewhat lighter hydraulic models, glad didn't pull the trigger on the Gannon yet

I read most of this thread quickly. If all you guys can criticize are the names of their products, I think they're doing a pretty good job!
What's next? Are you going to advise Ted on which clothes he should wear in the videos?

Good point but the names still seem like they were thought of by a bunch of six graders.

I'm holding out for the "Wicked Extreme" model.

Seriously, the new blade looks nice. Thanks for sharing the design process. I am eager to see the additional heavier blade designs that will be coming.
