2013 Tundra vs 2013 Ford

I understand Murph, :drink: it's just that these threads tend to end up brand bashing and then locked.

Its not bashing when its the truth.

The OP and others have a right to know how some members have been treated by a company. If posts get deleted to hide that, who does it help? Not the consumer for sure.

I personally prefer the Tundra. I had one breifly before needing to switch to something smaller (parking issue at a job). I've had poor luck with the fords (lemon f150 with 3 u joints in 50k mi and a rusted oi pan!?). I liked the tundra capacities and layout. The crew cab had tons of space and could seat 4 people in comfort. Fuel mileage was under 15 on average for me

I have a '07 Tundra double cab 8 ft bed 4x4 with all the towing options. I get 13-15 combined driving and about 17 on the hwy. The 4x4 costs you 2 miles per gallon. Just turned 100k on the clock, I am still very happy with it. This is a very capable truck. No, it is not an F250/350, however I snatch around 7-8k with it with not issues. I pulled 9.5k once, it handled it fine you knew you were towing.

I did have s couple of things covered under warranty, otherwise its gas, oil, tires, brakes, one battery.

The 8ft beds are a little less common than the 6.5ft. When you get the crewmax cab the bed is 5.5 ft, however the rear seats recline. Sure would be nice to get that with an 8ft bed....

FYI: Have a '96 Explorer 5.0l V-8 that is still going strong. No Ford bashing here. Yes, I am the only owner.

We decided on the Tundra. We are going back tomorrow to look over the 3 we like best again. The Ford was nice, but just did not add up to the Tundra. The EB truck was too expensive. When/If we get it, pics will come. We are trading a 2011 Silverado and a 2013 Equinox. The Chevys did fine, a life change requires more room, a good tow cap and one less note. I can take or leave the equinox, but I will miss my Silverado.

That's almost unbelievable, you have the manual? My 01 5.4 has got 12 mpg every tank that had no towing or city driving. Towing our 27 ft flatbed it drops into the single digits. I have heard some 2wd reg cab folks with the 5.4 and std get up to 15.

I have had 6 F150 5.4L trucks. One was a Lightning so disclude that one. The other 5 were all 4x4 and 4 were Super Crews with 3.73 gears. They always got 15.5mpg tank to tank and about 18 on the highway.

My favorite was a regular cab step side 4x4 with 7 lugs and 4.10 gears. No matter what it got 14 mpg, in town or highway.

All got 8 mpg with 7,000# or more behind them.

You sound like me with GM. Had 4 and will never touch another.

I had a '07 Tundra double cab 8 ft bed 4x4 with the towing options. It was not a bad truck but I did have to replace all the brakes, rotors, calipers at 30 something thousand miles. Never did figure out what happened to them. Normally I get a TON of time out of brakes and alway used trailers with properly set up brakes so not sure what was up with that. Also never really found anyone else that had the same problem so I think it was a fluke.
I ended up selling it to buy a Ram Cummins 2500 and personally find this truck more comfortable and better for towing (of course it is a FAR different vehicle). The Toyota towed decent, not like a 3/4 ton but very well for a 1/2 ton. The mile was 12/13 around town (I live in the county so it is a rural "town" not NYC or something) and mostly 15 maybe 16 on a good day on the highway. Not horrible but nothing special neither.
Inside the truck had a lot of room, didn't really care for the layout all that much but i'm short so the radio was a stretch.
My father always had Ford's and spent a fair amount of time fixing dumb stuff but their quality is MUCH better now and a lot of people like that Ecoboost. Anymore any vehicle is a gamble so see what one you like best and run with it.

As long as it is honest and civil, I want all opinions and experiences. I own a Ford, 1997 F150XLT 4x4. Decent truck. The Tundra just had better features for the money.

Funny you said that Chris - I was looking at Consumer Reports and they rate the Dodge's really bad. Like it should not make it out of my driveway without breaking down bad. I keep getting them from work (and knock on wood) never have any problems - they been GREAT trucks and that is why I bought one of my own.
Seems you just never know which is going to be good and which ones will be bad.....

Yep. Every one seems to have different luck. I had a Dodge and things were not good.
