8" Plastic Cable Zip Ties 100-Pack (Black) - Amazon.com
about the cheapest ones I can find, under two cents each.

Cable Tie Accessories, Cable Ties, Wire Tie Tool, Wiring Accessories - Cable Ties Express
a whole website devoted to zip ties :cool2:

In addition to nylon, UV nylon and heat stabilized nylon, Tefzel Fluoropolymer and Halar intermediate ties are also available.

now we're talking. Ok, who knows, without looking it up, what Tefzel is? I sure don't. Halar?
looks like we all need an education on what these ties are made of, and how to identify the construction.
Now that's the best I can do, should be good for another five pages...:D

http://tnblnx3.tnb.com/emAlbum/albums/Ty-Rap/tr_material_selection.pdf
so this means we should ask for weather resistant 6.6 nylon?

A cable tie tensioning device or tool may be used to apply a cable tie with a specific degree of tension. The tool may cut off the extra tail flush with the head in order to avoid a sharp edge which might otherwise cause injury.

In order to increase resistance to ultraviolet light in outdoor applications, a specific grade of nylon containing a minimum of 2% carbon black is used to protect the polymer chains and extend the cable tie's service life.[2] Blue cable ties are supplied to the food industry and contain a metal additive so they can be detected by industrial metal detectors. Cable ties made of ETFE (Tefzel) are used in radiation-rich environments. Red cable ties made of ECTFE (Halar) are used for plenum cabling.

Stainless steel cable ties are also available for flameproof applications—coated stainless ties are available to prevent galvanic attack from dissimilar metals (e.g. zinc-coated cable tray).

Cable ties can be used as makeshift handcuffs. Specially constructed physical restraints called PlastiCuffs, based on the cable tie design, are used by police and military to restrain prisoners.[citation needed] Cable ties are also commonly used to prevent hubcaps (also known as wheel trims) from falling off a moving vehicle, and some are sold specifically for this purpose.

You really don't want a Rabbi for a Bar Mitzvah on the ties, you want a Mohel to
do a Bris.:D

Looked at one F3080 yesterday and didn't see any white ties. I'd still order another one even if I did because they are the finest mowing machine made and they (the entire mower, engine, seat and mowing deck) only cost around what some people pay to have a motor rebuilt on a boat. But I know they will not fly over the water with water spray flying into your face, they just mow great and it's years or hours and hours before their engine ever has to be rebuilt.:) GO TIES PAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool2:

Where's F3080's made?

I dont get the big deal on cable ties. Ive installed literally thousands of them. A great product. My BX has white ones too. And their tails are the same length as everybody eases here and cut square, to me that means it's "by design" and done by machine. They arent near as sharp as ones hand cut with regular diagonal pliers which can be a pain, I agree. My only issue with what Kubota has done is use the white ones. Generally they are not UV resistant and besides that, they stand out like a sore thumb.

I still dont get all the ranting in this thread, they're only cable ties:rolleyes: In this case (securing loom) they are the best, least complicated and least expensive solution.

I couldn't agree more.

They are a band aid lazy solution on for a mass produced machine. The engineers should have designed mounts for the wires... like most manufactures do.

There's nothing wrong with zip ties. But they shouldn't be used like this on a production vehicle. Open the hood on a Toyota and tell me how many zip ties you see.

Not a bandaid nor lazy.

There are many times you need to secure cables and there is nothing there to secure them to besides another bundle.

The best solution is a cable tie.

Lots of manufacturers use cable ties in some form. That includes toyota and Lexus. What do you think keeps those big fat looms of wire in place? Pixie dust?

I made a list of pros and cons for zip ties and wire holders so you can see why Kubota uses what they do.

Pro's of Zip Ties
inexpensive
Easy to install
Easy to uninstall
Strong
Can be bought anywhere, not a speciality item

Cons of Zip Ties
Can be sharp if not properly trimmed
May not look as nice as a wire holder

Pros of wire holders
Look more professional
Easy to install

Cons of wire holders
Higher cost
May break when removed, some are about a one time use
Not as readily available
Some can be sharp
