I have had a few sticks and at this point in my life you could not give me another. Give me a automatic any day.

No appeal to me.

I like shifting. The simplicity. The generally deeper gearing. Less to go wrong. Easier to work on. Less maintenance. Better engine braking.

Plus it's FUN!!

I enjoy driving a stick as well in a more sporty vehicle and own a wrangler with a standard but otherwise prefer an automatic. I must be lucky because I have owned about 20 automatics and a half a dozen standards and never had a failed automatic. Each of the standards required either a throw out bearing or clutch plates while I owned them. These new automatics can get the power to the ground more quickly and seamlessly than a human. I understand your enjoying the simplicity.

Not me. If I can help it I will never own another automatic.

I will admit that a PowerStroke and DMax perform better with an automatic.

I don't own a stick because its faster. I enjoy shifting and controlling the vehicle myself.

I prefer a stick too. A six speed auto is not to bad but even in manual mode it is still not like a manual. I think a stick is faster on a diesel. My uncled used to always buy a stick so my aunt could not drive his truck.

Haha! My dad is retiring in a few months and is likely buying a diesel truck to pull a travel trailer. Says it will probably an auto so that my mom can drive it.

Would be his first auto transmission since the early '90's.

Yeah, if it is a long sentence you just take it up to redline.

Or learn to shift with your right knee. Obviously your right leg is steering and throttling.
