I saw in Popular Mechanics that the steering wheel in '14 GM trucks is off center of the drivers seat.

A six speed auto is not to bad but even in manual mode it is still not like a manual.

Sent from my Samsung SPH-L710 using TractorByNet

I have to say I enjoyed a couple 6 speed GM SUV's I have driven in mountains. Flicking the - switch on the column would cut out most all brake usage for speed control. The computer managed all the down shifts in a safe manner even if you down shifted to 1st gear running 70 miles per hour down a steep grade.

Look at the acceleration numbers loaded, unloaded and towing. Yes the GM gets the best unloaded mileage but look at how poor it performs in acceleration. The 8-speed really helped the ram this year.
2013 Light-Duty Challenge: Acceleration - PickupTrucks.com Special Reports

So the Dodge was 1 - 1.5 seconds Faster than the GM variants pulling an 8500 lb trailer is this something you routinely do? I don't normally drag race my truck and trailer between stop lights do you? I think the 2mpg hit you'd take while towing with the dodge would be more noticeable at the end of the day especially when it comes time to fill up a 300 mile trip with a loaded trailer would cost about $18 more in the dodge than either GM and the ECO boost with its great mileage would cost about $13 more than the GM .

Point being that you have to pay for towing performance. I myself prefer the extra power and acceleration.

How does one explain that The F150 and Ram gets better mileage than the chevy empty yet the Chevy gets the worst numbers in 0-60 than all six trucks with any load? If you are going to be weak, at least get good mileage empty.

Not sure what the difference was between the GMC and Chevy but the GMC had the best fuel economy of them all even unloaded. The GMC and chevy had nearly identical towing fuel economy confusing. I'm sure the 6.2 will be faster but at what cost to fuel economy

Didn't buy my 6.2's for the gas mileage although 15-16 on average is more than acceptable to me given the performance..If theycan improve on that, it would be nice.

People love to show how well one truck did over another but if you read the details you quickly realize that the fastest truck wasn't the one with the most power but the one that got the best traction. Since that's more a function of the brand of rubber the factory bolted onto the axles than the engine under the hood the test really means nothing.

Each truck was run with the windows up, air conditioning off, in two-wheel drive and in Drive when empty. We turned traction control off during each run, modulating the brake and throttle at launch to incur the least amount of wheel spin with the maximum amount of acceleration at launch.

I wonder if they had the e-locker engaged?

Probably some truth empty but not with the 1200 lbs in the bed or the 8500 trailer with approx. 900 lbs on the tongue. Doubt there was wheel spin issues there and those are the tests I quoted. Empty my ecoboost relies on traction control until it shifts into 3rd gear with a limited slip axle. Put 1200 lbs in the bed and traction control will do nothing.

Not sure what details you are reading but in this test, the ecoboost was the fastest AND had the most power.
