where to do hydro oil

2 things: the new vent goes where there is a bolt, not a plastic screw (at least in my case) and I did not find myself having any more power than before.

Mine was a red plastic threaded plug..charcoal paint over it...mine was bad to the point the bucket would get stuck in the ground, to where I thought I was going to have to get off the hoe and move the tractor to get it out, apparently some units are affected worse that others.

To the OP, yes you have to take the fitting out of the hyd fill to add oil.

Ah yes I remember your thread.

Mine doesn't seem to have a strength problem, I had the 2475 hoe on the CK25 and the 2485 is more powerful, but it definately does run a little warm. The cylinders are hot to the touch. Don't remember the 7' hoe being that hot.

I checked my manual and confirmed that I do not have the in-out hose kit (page 13-4) installed. My KB2485 is hooked up to both remote lines, rather than having the return (white) line installed on the fille port.

Before I take this up with my dealer, please help me understand how the installation indicated in the manual is better from a power and heat standpoint. It seems to me like a return, any return, into the on-board hydro system would work the same, but I am ignorant when it comes to hydraulics, so I want to make sure I am well informed when I ask him to correct it.

It stops the return under pressure so I'm told by the service guy.

After I found out about this kit the other day, I called my dealer and he said that most dealers dont use the kit here because of the filler being "not as accessible", but has used it if the customer complains about loss of power or overheating oil.

Apparently, the return through the QD is a smaller pipe and therefore restricts the flow to the sump, causing slower fluid flow and hotter fluid. He offered to give me a kit if I want it.

One question, the A/B lever in the cab is designed to reverse the flow to the QD's if you hook them up backwards. I assume that function would no longer work if I use the kit.

One would think the factory could put a T in that return line, Sure would make it easier when fluid needs to be added

True, You need to use either A or B as your power plug

I contacted my dealer and he is sending me that parts.

He said that his mechanic had run into some issues with having to tap the filler neck to get the fitting to work, and was worried about getting metal chips into the hydro system, so he started omitting the return kit. Never had anyone complain. Either way, I am going to install it. If I have to tap the filler neck, I will wait until I am doing the 50hr service and deal with the prospects of metal chips then.
