where to do hydro oil

/ where to do hydro oil #31
Obviously, since it is impossible for Kioti to make a part incorrectly or get too much powder coat in it. I'm going to call the dealer this morning and tell him that he is a lying a-hole, just so he knows that I know that you know that he knows he's a liar.

WTF?

What Powder coat?

The fitting(s) my dealer put into the HYDRO fill port on the upper right side of the trans, replaced the large red rubber plug with 'Shepard's hook' vent built in. Mine has two fittings - one the same size threaded metal male fitting into which a female QD is screwed, that allows me to plug in one hydraulic hose from the hoe. The other hose goes into either the A or the B factory installed rear remote female QD. I was told this routing would allow for the hoe to run better due to more adequate cooling of the hydro fluid, if one tended to run the hoe hard and hang her up wet.
There should be no cross threading issues, nor should there be any powder coating issues either.:confused2: Recent models, like my 2010 DK, have a place on the opposite side of the transmission to install a smaller vent port into the housing by removing a bolt and installing the 'plug/vent'.
BTW, my hydro port fill plug is hand tight, so I just disconnect the hose and unscrew the fitting and add fluid at will.

Now that you mention it, that is the way it should be. Since it is only a return line, through what used to be a breather, it should not need to be that tight.

I had my kit waiting on me when I got home this weekend. I think it may have been for a different model, though. When I installed it, I had to trim the new breather since it would contact the housing behind it when I screwed it on. Also, the plug to replace the old breather did not bottom on the o-ring. The threads in the full tube did not go deep enough. I tightened it enough to avoid leaks but, now that I consider your post, I guess I did not need to tighten it that tight. I'll either get the dealer to send me the correct one, or chuck the one I have in my lathe and shorten it so that the o-ring will seat and I can leave it installed loosely. There was a little powder coat blow over in the top of the threads, by the way.

After installing the kit, I did notice an improvement. I won't claim that it was any stronger, since that could be placebo-effect, but it did feel that way. I finished up a stump job I had left done and was struggling some with, an took care of it in just a few bites, without so much as a grunt on the part of the backhoe. The cooler temperature of the lines was unquestionable, though, and I noticed that the operation was smoother - less jerky on small movements.

I think I am going to reconfigure the return fitting into a T, though. Now that the return line is not plugged into the detented remote, throwing the remote lever the wrong way will dead-head it the same way as having nothing plugged into that remote at all. So, I will want to put a second QD there so I can run the short loop line to it so the fluid has somewhere to go if I accidentally bump the lever.

As far as filling the hydro reservoir- has anyone considered running it in through a line with a male QD end on it? It may take a while to run 11 gallons through that small orifice, but you wouldn't have to disconnect anything.

Yea, theres a kit supplied to the dealers that comes with the backhoe attachment, some dealers apparently think they know more than Kioti and don't install them.

Depending on how many backhoes your dealer has sold, he probably has the kits stacked up like cordwood.

There is a vent tube that gets installed in place of the little plastic plug that is up and to the left of the PTO shaft.

Then there is another fitting that replaces the fill plug for the HYD, the return on the Backhoe gets plugged into that.

My hoe was lacking power, it has more power since the kit was installed, and the hyd fluid stays cooler.

It clearly shows the kit in the owners book for the Hoe, sect. 13-4

I just purchased DK40 with backhoe and am now waiting for the backhoe to arrive and be installed. I for some reason get the feeling that they will hook the return line up directly to the remote and I do plan on working this machine So in an effort to avoid confusion when I stop to talk to the salesman I would appreciate if someone could scan this page/section of the manual and post it here so I can copy/print it and show them exactly what I want from the start. No confusion no going back and redoing things and cooler running machine with less jerky movements is what I want/need.

I know this is an old thread but hopefully someone can help a new Kioti owner get it right from the get go.

Its called the BH kit, your dealer should know about this. I don't think its a big deal myself.

Just tell your dealer to install the hoe kit that routes the hoe's return through the fill port, instead of through the standard QD return fitting. There's little room for confusion.

I talked to the dealership yesterday and the salesman didn't seem to know about this kit. I explained it the best I could but he still seemed a bit confused on it.
Would it be possible to get some pics of the installed kit? You know what they say A picture is worth a thousand words!

It's in the Backhoe Manual on page 13-4 and the parts list is on page 13-5. Hope this helps.

That's a good pic, and on the DK series it's on the opposite side of the tractor. And the relocated breather shown in the backhoe manual, in the post after yours, is similar but somewhat updated as to where/ how it connects to the side of the tractor.

If it were me I'd talk to the parts dept guys instead of the salesman, especially since he doesn't seem to know what you want....
