Well, the truck I just bought stickered at 55K..Got it for ~47K..Gave me a fortune for my 2011 and a few bucks from me put me in the 20,000 financed range...It's doable if you play the game right...Not for everyone, but it is doable...

That train wreck of Cash for Clunkers ruined the used car market in terms of driving up prices and it hasn't normalized yet...Who knows if it ever will. If you're buying new and trading, you'll love it---If you're buying used, you won't.

Not to mention the OEMs would rather you NOT buy used atm...

Buying a new HD truck over 6000 lbs for a business is a great way to keep Obama out of your pocket. Talk to your CPA. Buy new truck or pay it in tax, easy decision for me.

I won't buy anything with payments. Used cash or new cash. If I can't pay cash I just don't need it

I do the same thing with everything except houses and my truck..Either way, I won't finance unless I can put more than 50% down. Built in escape hatch. I've never been upside down in anything and if I do finance, I pay them off quickly..House is the exception, to a degree---Overpaying, but the payoff ain't gonna happen fast.

It's just a truck. If something happens to it, that's why you pay for insurance. Too many people hung up on material things that don't really matter in the "big picture". If it comes back a mess, make someone clean it.

Well said

Not to be a one upper, but my neighboer (a car salesman) told me an older fellow, just bought a brand new king ranch F350 or F450 for about 72k. I just dont understand why in the world that makes sense to anyone. A truck that size is purpose built for work I would assume but its kind of sickening getting into something that expensive with anything more than some dust on your dress shoes lol.

It makes you wonder how people ever got by with a standard cab half ton truck back in the day. :confused3:

I'm glad people still have freedom to spend their own money on whatever kind of ride they want.

Your last comment is absolutely spot on!

Many of those get used to tow large travel trailers around the country seeing the sites and visiting grandkids. They are bought because they are comfortable for long rides and "we may as well enjoy our money while we are still up top of the ground"

Yep... If you got it, spend it. Why not?
