Fluidfilm works well, it also does a good job under the cutting deck on the riding mower.

Never heard of fluidfilm before but based on all the rave reviews I ordered a couple cans. Always looking for ways to make life easier.

Try AmsOil HDMP chain protector, sticks good, lasts, can goes a long ways, and only $6CAD. Don't know who would supply it for you guys south of the border, but it is an American made product.

Actually, I have used Fluid Film before on a fertilizer unit. It's an older and expensive piece that is in great condition so when I am done using it I wash and blow dry and then spray on some FF on the parts that would need it. Ten years of use and it is as perfect as when I got it.

Ordered a case (12cans) of Fluid Film on eBay last week and worked out to $6.65/can. Had it in 4 days.

so which degreaser breaks down the heavy metals? just curious....
Moot point, as we're not talking at an industrial/commercial level here. I don't have a percentage, but probably wouldn't be far off by venturing that heavy metals barely represent a microfraction in a quart of used lubricant.

That's exactly how I use it on fertilizer spreaders.
Back to the original question regarding ground equipment, I know FF works on the bare metal surfaces too. But I keep a lookout for cheap spray paint. Either on closeout or just on sale. The cheap paint has little pigment, but I don't care about that. I don't care about the color either. It still provides a protective covering, and it works great on plow shares, etc. It's also nice to have a clean and dry surface once the paint dries, compared to the grease or oil, especially when you go to work on it or adjust it.
