Im not sure if this is the best place to post the question, but its the place on TBN that I visit the most and value everyones opinion. What are everyone's preferences on smart phones?

I need a good tractor-worthy smart-phone that is rugged & dependable for everyday use. I work indoors but am always outside doing projects while im home. I mainly access TBN via my phone so its crucial that find a new one. My current phone has survived for 2.5 years in a busted up case and its time for an upgrade. Hit me with your recommendations!

I like my Lumia 920. Tough phone, excellent camera, brightly colored and difficult to lose.

I'd make sure it's waterproof, like the Samsung Galaxy or Iphone5. Also buy a plan that covers loss or damage with no conditions. Check reviews online for coverage in your area, I had an AT&T phone that was great on the road but didn't work in my house. Of all the plans I've had I think Virgin Mobile is the best deal balancing cost, coverage and it's month to month contract. I'd never sign up for long term contract again either. Consumer Cellular had best price/value, but they use AT&T network which didn't work well at my home. I've found Radio Shack is a great place to shop for phones, they sell just about all the carriers and phones, so they don't care what you buy and seem pretty knowledgeable.

I've used Motorola smart phones (Droid, Droid 4, Atrix) for years and never had a problem with them breaking. I've dropped mine numerous times on concrete and always seem to sit on it while it's in the same pocket as my Leatherman. I'm comparing these to a (admittedly cheap) Samsung that lasted a week and an iPhone5 that lasted a month until it fell out of my shirt pocket. I've also got a Xoom tablet that I do not baby; I've seen a couple of articles about Xoom tablets being used in remote villages in Africa.

They're not waterproof, but short of emersing them in water you'll probably be good to go.

FYI I used to work for Motorola Mobility until early this year and I received the phones for free when testing them with LTE. I no longer have any affiliation with Motorola.

Funny you say that. I've had a Motorola Defy for over 2 years. The otter box case has taken a beating and parts have broken off, but the phone has stood up fine.

My friend an avid hunter has an IPhone 4s and dropped his from his stand 30' up, nailed a large buck and forgot about his phone when he climbed down to track. It rained that night then he went back the next day when he remembered and it was still there and worked fine.

whatever smartphone you get, you might want to look into otter cases for it if you plan to be in rough conditions alot.

Samsung Galaxy 4S is the best phone out right now. Large screen, 1080 resolution, really fast processor, much better features and use than the iPhone which my daughters and wife have. Internet capability is excellent.

I like my iPhone 4S. Skip the otter box and get a life proof case. They are waterproof to 6 feet.
