Both the filters above the standard Orange Fram we are all a custom too are rated as high as any other brand out.

The Kubota filters that are from Japan seem pretty nice looking (like the HST) although very expensive whereas the K oil filters I have bought are from Indonesia and I don't think quite as stand out.

Did your HST filter have billet aluminum where it threads on?

Yes! Fram and champion are all one company now, fram bought them. Look for more higher quality top end stuff coming from fram!

I would not consider Champion a quality company either.

Similar to Gary's post , ( #13 ) , I don't get to involved in " What is better " Filter or oil discussions . I Know What works for Me and has Worked for me for quite a few years now . The Original OP post discusses what He discovered in looking at stock numbers and pricing . I did the same thing back in '05 when doing the first filter change on our TC 30 . What N.H. Dealer wanted versus what I could get on-line through Fleet Filter , ( Wix filters ) , Which is were I had been getting filters for all my vehicles . Would buy bulk , thus get say 6 oil filters for each pick up thus after adding in shipping , it still ended up being a better deal than in town . Add in now I also buy filters for the tractor and APU on my Semi , Shipping charges are smaller per item , thus it becomes a even better deal .

When my block heater quit on my jd 2320 I asked the questions about options for replacement as the jd part was $125 or so, some one here on tbn linked me to the exact replacement (part #s even matched to the jd) for $35 or so. Jd, same as Kubota(I'm sure others also), mark up the their parts quite a lot so its nice when people find cross reference part number and share.
Thanks to the op.

hahaha.. funny how oil filter threads always end up in a pissin match between Fram haters and Fram Koolaid Drinkers..
Almost as entertaining as Amsoil vs the world!.

it's usually fram haters against anyone that will use a fram.. doesn't have to be a 'koolaid drinker'.. Some people despise fram so much that anyone that will use one is a target.

I wonder how many current - real cases of oil filter failure out there are in existance. ( any brand ).

same with lube related failures. any brand.

I'd wager I can count both on 1 hand.... that's a guess mind you. but you hear lots of internet myth.. but not many 'it happened to me' types that went to a verifiable 3rd party to have the engine analysed to prove that brand x oil or filter 100% caused the problem.. you see the myth and scare tactics.. just not much evidence. same with the ford 6.0 horror stories. lots more hype than actual cases. ( yes.. i know there were some for sure real cases... perhaps a bad comparison ).. however for every real case.. there must be 1000 horror stories to go with it..

Now that's SOUND reasoning!:cool2: Sorry but I couldn't help myself. But I do agree!

I don't have a problem with anyone that uses a Fram on their vehicles ,equipment, etc, Where I believe the problem comes in is, when someone says the $5.00 Fram is just as good as a $10.00 wix, $15.00 fleetguard etc,. There may be a Fram that competes with the higher priced filters. I don't know. I do know that there is a reason that cheap oil filters of any brand are cheap, Because they use cheap material... Again, I couldn't care less what oil filter/ oil anyone uses
