New (to me) Flail Mower

   / New (to me) Flail Mower #11
Most of the flail mowers in the U.S. are used to mow orchards and vineyards where the operator wants to cut the weeds down to ground level (scalp mowing). They are considered too slow for field mowing where the operator want a taller cut (several inches high). Brush hogs (aka bush hog, shredder, slasher) are preferred and are much less expensive than flails. You rarely see flail mowers used for highway right of way mowing--these are almost exclusively brush hogs.

==============================================================================

There are a lot flail shredders used in the the United States and Europe especially due to
the EU safety regulations for mowing near highways and verges and pedestrian mowing in
on park land.

Here in the east IN MOST STATES flail mowers are used for near highway and verge
mowing to prevent the possibility of impacting objects and making missles out of them

A flail mower has to be built much more strongly than a rotary finish mower mower.

Most all of them are simply stamped in hydraulic presses and then weldments are
attached to them for the caster wheels and anti skid rollers.

===========================================================

Dear Mr. Yuan,

A disc mower is an entirely different rotary mower and not a flail mower.

The three point hitch rear mounted BCS ROTEX R6 is
what is referred to as integrally rear mounted haylage cutting machinery.

First:

It is a rear three point hitch mounted integral combination disc mower and haylage conditioner.

Second:

The disc mower conditioner utilises two rubber coated ribbed crimping rolls.
to aid in breaking the fibers of the hay being cut to dry it faster and
maintain the quality of the forage while it being stored in bales or
as ensilage.

Third the disc mower is an extension of the side mounted sickle mower
whch employs a series of gear box to belt to gear driven discs which have
four blades cutting the hay and then the crimping rolls pick up the cut forage
and crush it to some extent to break the fibers to make it evaporate faster
and then as a result dry faster to enable it to be baled or processed for ensilage.
per disc.

The State of North Carolina has gone almost exclusively to flail mowers and have greatly cut down the amount of damage to vehicles from flying debris.

Hey NCridgerunner,

I love it when a plan comes together.

The(NCDOT) folks will never regret using flail
mowers either of the forward discharge type or
the rear discharge units.

YAAAY!!

Thank you. I thought the only reason is price. Now seems more reasons.

Since you are a manufacturer, I would guess that you know this already.
