Yup, I wouldn't download from there either. Rootkit malware is on the increase and downloading websites many times don't know they are infested. You don't want these viruses, they're nasty, dangerous and hard to get rid of because they will morph, move around in your files, rename themselves and infect the registry and corrupt your system restore files. It's like Whack-A-Mole. They disguise themselves by blending in with legit system files thus avoiding detection all the while logging your keystrokes and directing you to nefarious places on the web. And more, much more.

well, no good. he grabbed the 32b version not the 64, and now he's gone to lunch and his pc is locked.

where do you suggest I downlaod it from. it did not work from microsoft.... tried that...

another update.. his pc wasn't locked.. just snoozing. so i went to microsoft again.. and instead of the run file I did the save file.. it downlaoded a small 1.98 meg file. running it and it is getting 'updates' ?

That must be for a 32 bit machine which is a rarity in W-7.

Through IE-10 the 32 bit browser was normally used, at least that's what I used on my 64 bit machine and still do with IE-11.
If you go to the Microsoft site that Midniteoyl first recommended, do they even show a 32 bit version download at 28 meg?

If I go to Program files Internet Explorer for the 64 bit version it has 25.3 MB of files.
If I go to the Program Files (x86) which is the 32 bit version it only has 10.6 MB of files in it.

Opening the 64 bit version it has been updated to IE-11 as well as the 32 bit version from the same 54MB download
install file from Microsoft all at the same time.

It doesn't really matter if what you did works ok and you didn't get some bad guys installed along with it.

You may want to untick the Bing Browser thing. It is pretty but has constantly changing pictures and scrolling news sites
that waste a lot of internet.

yep.. he downloaded the 32b version accidentally for some reason.

i went back to MS site.. tried on the unenhanced ver again. did a save as. it dl'd a 2 mb file. ran that.. and it is about 10% thru the lil status bar of downloading ie11 now. though it don't look like it's moving since i looked at it 5m ago.

previous tries at MS site, as I said.. resulted in a download starting.. then quietly failing with no reason as to why..

in fact.. the dl going on now seems to have completely stalled.
