skid steer over tractor any day! really when your trying to make a level grade or tote gravel or dirt into residential areas. the length and turning radius of a skidsteer blows a tractor out of the water to me they are much more precise and better for the type of work I think your trying to do. many attachments for them. when your using an attachment your looking infront of you not twisting your back all day and fighting to get in tight spaces. a skid steer Is my next investment!!

The V518 is the biggest compact telehandler that Bobcat sold. It had the Versahandler attachment system.

Before the V417 came out the V518 was the Smallest telehandler Bobcat sold. There was also the V623 & V723. Same machines were also built and sold through Ingersoll - Rand VR518, VR638 (623 with triple boom extension), and VR723. Minor difference between Bobcat & IR brand was joystick function. Side to side movement on Bobcat tilts the bucket and thumb switch extends to boom, side to side on IR telescopes the boom and thumb switch rolls the bucket.

The V417 is the only one that has the SSQA mount frame, others do require an like Xfaxman pictured. I don't know of any other telehandler brand that has a SSQA.

It is an option on some brands. SSQA adapters are available for the others.

Well, I found a T190 track loader for about $ 16k. Wish I could find a brand new one with A/C.
I like this more than my kubota M6800, but fuel economy is poor. Very poor.
The tracks add stability and reduce ruts.
If I had to choose, I would keep the T190 instead of the Kubota.
One option is to rent a T190 for a day to see how we'll it works for you. Reduces your risk.

I'm buying an old dozer from my neighbor w/6way blade for $2000. It runs great and recently had the brakes and clutches replaced. That will clear my almost totally flat forest land. Now I think I figured out a tracked skid steer will take care of any other needs I might have. I can get all the implements I want off craigslist for cheap.

I will also need a 9000+# telehandler because I'm building our home and a few other outbuildings out of logs. The first attachment I'd try to get is the grappler for my skid steer so I can place logs on my portable sawmill. Not growing crops for harvest except in the greenhouse.

I see no advantage to a mini telehandler for my needs.

Actually currently I'm looking for a used Bobcat multi-terrain trac steer. Ready to pick it up as soon as I find it. Smile
