I need to get some parts now. Where is the best place to get them. I.e. best price and shipping. I can by a gasket for $15 and it cost $12 to send it.
I always recommend either
Affordable Tractor Sales or
RanchHand Supply for Jinma parts. Both of them are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and provide prompt service as well as advice.
If you order something like a large gasket that has to be layered in cardboard and then wrapped, the shipping will be high, as you have seen. That's just unavoidable. However, if you order a bunch of parts including that gasket, they may all be able to come in one package, saving you on the shipping costs. Of course, when you're ordering stuff like axles, gears and other heavy items, the shipping costs can be fairly high no matter what.
The one way to cut shipping costs is to make use of the USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes when your stuff will fit in one of them. You can put up to 70 pounds in one of those boxes and the price is the same as if you only put in half a pound. I've saved hundreds, probably thousands, of dollars over the years using Flat Rate boxes to ship tools and steel to/from the States and my shop here in the Virgin Islands. It only costs $16.50 to ship 70 pounds of steel from anywhere in the States to here in a large Flat Rate box, but would cost well over $200 to ship by UPS or Fedex. Hard to beat a bargain like that! Tommy (Affordable Tractor) and Ronald (RanchHand Supply) both use those Flat Rate boxes whenever they can.
I bought an aftermarket control valve and hose assembly for my FEL from Ronald and it came in a Flat Rate box, and I sold my OEM valve to another guy and sent it in one, too. The OEM valve and hoses weighed just under 50 pounds. BTW, my new loader control is fantastic, compared to the OEM one. If you do much loader work I highly recommend it. It works smoothly , has float and rapid regen, a power-beyond port, and better hoses and fittings, as well as a bracket that mounts it in a more user-friendly way. It took me just about an hour to make the switch. Now I want a larger capacity hydraulic pump for it so can take advantage of its ability to make compound moves.
