nice looking spread for sure, I would also suggest no trees around the pond d-a-m for reasons already given. That D-A-M could be raised up some and widened up a bit if ya wanted the top looks a bit narrow near the top & backside from the distant pic...

I got the last of the posts put in last Wednesday, in the cold and wet. Wet, as we still have run off meandering behind the dam. I put all the treated 2x12s up today. I think I might at another sloping wing on the far end. I know for sure when I get the dirt on the dam all leveled back out.


It seems I have an Indian tractor, a diesel generator from Italy, a skil saw from Japan, and a pancake compressor from China. My American made dog didn't make the photo, as he was laying in the sunshine.
It took a lot of trimming with my chain saw to get the cedar posts all squared up for the 2x12s. Stihl saw, I'm not sure if it is made here or in Germany. I would "assume" there is a factory here.

The Stihl is made in Virginia Beach. I used to live 1/2 mile from the factory. At the time,('70's) it was the only Hot Die cast plant in the States. I still have mine from 1980. (Wood Boss 028).

I have the Stihl Farm or Ranch Boss. I have had it for about 10 years with no problems. Dad always got the Poulans. Which I refer to as a throw away saw.

Thanks Charlie. As wet as it is and is going to get, it will be a while before grass is growing around the bulkhead.

Happy Day. I came home this morning and while driving around the curve of the driveway, I saw a flash out of the corner of my eye at the pond. I turned to see it was a Mallard Drake taking off. He landed about 25 feet away from where he started. I dashed in the house for the camera. But could not see him from my back deck. So I faked Booger out towards the barn and tried to get in closer. He saw me and flew up into the heavy trees across the fence.
I'm definitely Happy, happy, happy.

Now, what can I plant to attract more wild ducks?
