Well according to the weatherman, we were supposed to get less than 1 inch of snow today. At 6PM we are at about 6-8" and still snowing lightly. It is warming up so it will be raining by dawn. Temps might be real close to freezing. I'm going to wait until morning to plow even though I'm itching for some seat time! I figure to let the snow act as a sponge to sop up the freezing rain overnight.

Good luck to all tomorrow.

Weather man says 1-2" here in SE Mass. I have no confidence in them and expect to see 18". Plow is on and I'm ready

You guys are way too anxious and excited. We got 1 1/2" today and I'm totally happy about it. I run a road grader for a township and don't go out unless it's 4" or over. I even have a 2 year old JD grader that kicks butt to run, but I'm still glad it didn't snow more. ;)

Personally I would go ahead and plow it. Not sure what your temps are going to do in the near future, but adding rain/freezing rain to 6-8" of snow already there may indeed compact it more and turn it into a big ice block. seen it happen before. And it is even worse if there is tire-tracks in the snow already, cause it makes a bumpy mess that is almost impossible to remove.

Dealt with that a but here over the weekend while out plowing. Started off fine. But then with a little rain from above, and a little melting from below with the salt that was already down, made an icy bumpy mess in some areas.

I hate snow and plowing all together. But I have a commercial acct that needs it cleared every 1". It's blood money and a total PITA at 4:30 am

Here's my previous grader. Haven't had enough snow to plow since we traded for the new machine.

Color me jealous... The last time I ran a motor grader was circa 1979. It was also the first time I ran one.

Doing a search one day, I found these. Mauldin 1750-C Paver I think I'm in love!

Put the front blade on my Farmall A last week, just before another large snow we were supposed to get. All gassed up, and fluids checked, she's ready to go. Amounted to less than 2" here, and the 6"-8" they predicted for here by yesterday morning amounted to 2.5". I like to think of it as preventative maintenance...

After 32 years of plowing snow for ODOT, on a major 4-lane, I don't care if I ever have to plow snow again. I'd much rather play in the dirt..!!
