I am not sure where I heard/read it but in the not to distant past I remember hearing that Phil was going to leave the show soon.
This may be his exit strategy.
Seems like a perfectly good way to go out to me............

Spin how you choose, they already were scheduled to bring in several new characters while cutting some others and less time for some. Looks like it fits right in. How much shelf life does this type of how have, 4-6 years for most?

And to be himself it doesn't make sense that he would even want to be on the show (exposed to an audience) other than to express his views...he's made his point and played his "15 minutes" most likely better than he imagined...

Will be interesting to see how it effects the sales of their brand merchandise...my guess it is will give it a boost...possibly enough to give retailers like W-M a shot in the arm when it comes to their 4th quarter Q10's...

nothing he said wasn't Biblical.

I'd like to see them on another channel myself. Then I can just take A&E off my channel guide.

Nothing else is worth watching, far as I can tell.

Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with the first amendment. A private company decided they did not want to be associated with someone who said something the company does not want to be associated with. It's well within their rights to fire the dude.

What are you some sort of commie who thinks he can control what sort of business decisions a private company can make?

If A & E thinks disappointing redneck fans is less of a problem than alienating that gay community then they made the correct business decision. Was Nike wrong in dropping Tiger Woods when he embarrassed them?

Media stars know full well they cannot cross certain lines if they want to stay in the publicity business. I doubt the duck guy was dumb enough to not appreciate the risk he was taking when he exercised his first amendment right.

He might have a case...but as a "employee", he can be discharged or otherwise disciplined depending on company policy.
I expect A&E will get a lot of flack for this.

Just because his show is on A&E doesn't mean he gives up his rights.
A&E knew that Mr. Robertson is a very religious man (I don't watch the show (or any "reality" TV)...my wife does and I do catch snippets now and then).
A&E could have disavowed his comments and let it go...but they didn't.
