A new thread called Kubota repairs is a brand bashing thread

Even though I was too young to mess with it at the time, I remember my dad fighting with a hand-crank Case tractor when I was a kid. I remember tugging on the rope to trip the old Sears and Roebuck 2-bottom trailer plows. Any Kubota or Kioti will be light years ahead of that machine.
Dad had an old Case D tractor he kept around. Ugly as sin. Starter wouldn't work most of the time - usually parked it on a hill. Had a crank starter as the 3rd option. Scared me when it kick around before disengaging. Couldn't kill that little sucker though.

My last tour in Iraq I had troops scattered all over Iraq. I flew every week to some part of that country in BlackHawks, low and fast. Took a LOT of pictures of farm homesteads. They always had a hill pushed up near the buildings with their tractor backed up on it to coast start. Batteries must have been hard to come by!!! Almost 100% Massey Ferguson tractors.

Well, then I'd guess that HST transmissions were not very popular there. ;)

You can count on that!!!!

My Dad only owned one automatic transmission pickup and that was his last one. Always said, how ya gonna get that thing cranked if it won't start????

Surely you aren't going to say you've never saw an old carb'd engine vehicle that flooded on the attempt to start by battery and needed pulled/pushed???

A light to medium hammer blow on the starter on a GM product would usually work for a while:laughing:

Lost track of the number of times I've saw that!!!!! I grew up around Fords. My Dad hated GM products for various reasons but the starter issue was at the top of the list!!! :D

I started an old 75 chevy van more than once with a hammer.. Until I took it in to a local battery, starter/alternator shop and a guy crawled under it and removed, it, rebuilt it, and put it back on all for the low low price of $20.. how about that!.. I am betting you cant't get that kind of service any more. (it has been a while)
