Was out last week cutting up some saw logs and I cut about a 18 inch diameter pine tree The other trees grew into the branches and when I fell the tree and came to wedge it over the hinge just broke( it a dead tree its a little rotten at the butt) now the tree off the stump but just hanging there....during summer it's no big deal I just drag it out with my L45 BUT it's winter and about 3 feet of snow so all I have is a snowmobile and a come along rated to 2 tons....do you guys think there would be enough strength to pull it down The trees probably at a 75 degree angle and I can't role it because it's stuck between 2 trees one on each side

Thanks for any info

How high from the ground tree stuck?
Does your come along have 2 hook setup..1 hook on pulley?,if so hook end hook to come along than pulley hook to chain/strap should double pulling strength.

It's set up with one pulley 1 ton straight pull and 2 ton pull with the pulley and pretty hight probably 50 feet up Or so. The tree is dead an the other tree grew into it

If I..I would wait until the ground was firm than try winch from safe distance, for the other tree might have surprise...if not please be careful.

Guess I should reword..wait until snow gone ground firm than equipment w/winch etc. try pulling dead tree free..lot could go wrong real quick when pulling w/come along as such.

Is this tree for firewood or logs. I would want to visually see the tree before I did anything, but what I have done for hung trees in the past is just start sawing firewood size chunks off the butt until the tree either decides to fall, or I cant reach any higher to make a saw cut. Usually, sawing a few chunks off the bottom will shake the tree loose from the top an it will fall. If it doesnt fall, then a comealong attached to the bottom end and another tree will usually pull it out of the tops it is hung up on.

If you don't know what to do with it now wait until you have a clear idea of what to do about it.
It doesn't matter if it's now or 6 months from now.
Leave it be until you have a good course of action in your own head.
Things can go south in a hurry.
Leave it be for the time being.
