Good morning!!!!

19 F here for a low this morning (but it's a dry cold:D). The sun is shining brightly in a clear blue sky, and it's still just 29 F at 11 AM. I'd say it's as cold as Jerry Jones heart after the Cowboys' loss to the Eagles last night. I loved seeing ol' Jerry turn around and cuss up a storm when the 'Boyz got intercepted on their last attempted drive. He ain't gonna give up his cash cow, so we have to get pleasure in seeing him suffer. Oh well, this is the Good Morning thread and I've already tainted it by mentioning Jerry.:(

My way saying Happy New Year Dave. ;)

66F 5.57 inches since midnight, 8.26 inches last 30 hours. Still raining. Will be interesting to see how full the two relocated catchment tanks are.

Have a great day.

David, you got those tanks in place just in time. How many gallons do you harvest per inch of rain?

eight inches of rain? holey moley, that's more than five feet of snow.

if that happened, I think a few of us would look around and say "I need a bigger tractor".

I wouldn't, I'd be parked right next to Ron in Texas. I have learned the error of my ways...:D

In theory, .625 inch per square ft. With 4 inch gutters and 3 inch pipe, the rate of rain can easily overwhelm my feed capacity. Other than the "mess" I don't get concerned. In over 7 years, we've never run out.

My tractor she'd is about 900 sqft of collection and feeding the 2 relocated tanks. So over 500 gal per inch. First tank should be full and probably so is second, but no way am I climbing a ladder right now to check. LOL

My main feed is the livingroom & garage roofs, at over 2500 sqft, over 1500 gal per inch, still feeding the remaining original tank. Of course it is overflowing. In fact the area is looking like a lake as the depressions from the 3 removed tanks are filled with water. I'll get a pic later.

7.27 inches since midnight, .71 inches per hour as I type. Sure glad it isn't snow and I don't have to shovel.

The good thing about rain, as long as you are not at the bottom of a valley with a river or creek, it will run somewhere else. Snow, not so much. The first winter I was in the Navy I spent in Great Lakes. I learned that I wasn't cut out for the snow.

wunderground just updated our lovely forecast for the end of this week, 3 to 5 inches of ice and snow Thursday night, another 3 to 5 on Friday.
And going down to 5 degrees Friday night. Don't want to think how that translates further North, too cold to think about.
