Best features of a Kubota tractor? Are they one of the best when it comes to cold sta

My Kubota starts the best of any of my 11 tractors. I don't get much below single digit temps but even then it fires up without even glowing and is running smooth in a few seconds. Like has been mentioned, Kubota is as close to a complete manufacture as you can get and they most likely will have parts for you down the road. Others may say they will but they cannot control sources from companies they do not own. Not all of the new breeds will carry the parts that Deere and Kubota do once your tractor is over 10 years old in my opinion.

Hey Ovrszd,
I'm pretty sure that in the case of the MX5100 being More its actually less or the nearly the same in most performance aspects You would not be the first who assumed the MX was bigger. I'm pretty sure that MX5100 , L5240 and the L5060-L6060 are nearly the same sized chassis I'm not sure if the Hst they use is shorter providing a shorter overall wheel base which then results in slightly tighter turning radius. I've looked at them at the dealer and they look like the same axles design/ Same motor. Kubota wants you to believe that they are a bigger tractor but its not really with the exception of Rear Wheel tread spacing. They share the same tire size. the Loader Number is one off from the outgoing L5240's LA854 yet it has more lift capacity than the MX5100. the MX weighs between 125-200 lbs less than the L Series
In this i Found that Kubota has lowered loader capacity on the new L series so now they can be even lower than the kiotio's than they already where.
The biggest difference is the 670 lbs the MX gives up in 3pt capacity over the L series

The MX in my opinion should really be called the L5100 its just a de-contented L5240/L5060 (-Minus HST+ and some of the other luxury features.) that more closely competes with the some of the cheaper offerings from other OEMS.
That said the MX5100 is really a good value but it does not fill the void in the M series lineup they created when they stopped the M5140 by not offering at M5160. Why not call it what it is a L5100
Still Shaking my head about the LA1055 Loader Specs not sure what Kubota was thinking:thumbdown:

I gotcha. Except, don't get too wrapped up in the HP thing. For example you can get a Kubota L5740 that's a medium sized CUT chassis with 57HP. Or you can get an MX5100 that's a larger chassis with 50HP. So again, you need to shop a LOT.

Here's a website that's very handy to compare data, i.e. HP, Wt, Length, tire size, etc. Guess that's why they call it Tractor Data. :)

TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors

Diesel Lover,
I'm don't own a kubota in that size range although i looked at them very hard as well as the john deere's, MF and New Hollands, before deciding to go up to the M8540. I will probably get a 40 - 50 hp Cab tractor in the future. But my need for being able to offload 3000 lb pallets and other heavy items forced me to go larger first. I loved the HST plus with auto throttle, auto idle. I liked the responsiveness others had more lag and did'nt respond as well. Not a big fan off the toe/heal either i'd rather have two toe pedals one reverse one forward. I liked the JD workstation better than the L40's although i really do like the L60's. If i was getting an HST the kubota HST Plus hands down over all the others it just seemed to work much more fluidly

As far as cold starts they work start really well even in sub zero F temps even without a block heater. Then again so does my buddies MF and the neighbors JD If i'm not to lazy to plug it in barn is about 150 200 yard round trip it doesn't even use glow plugs and starts like its 60 f.

When I bought our Kubota L4400, it was cheaper than a JD. My L4400 has never let me down. Why don't you try out all the different makes and models? Most people buy ONE tractor during their life.

Well, which model are you looking at?

L4600DT (46hp) or MX5100 (50hp) are the two I'd be interested in if I were you.

Good stuff, I totally agree with your data. That's what the OP needs to do, study data. Very confusing, especially when switching brands. They all want to play up their particular model that they think fills your needs. Thanks for the correction Dave. Good stuff!!!!

Most people buy ONE tractor during their life.

Not the people I know. And especially not the people on this website. Things change. Tractor needs change. But more importantly, tractor expectations change. I'm on my third primary tractor in 10 years. Mostly because of required work. But somewhat due to my buying too small. Go big or stay home. It'll save you money in the long run. :)

No problem Richard. If i had'nt looked at the Grand L and MX sitting right next to one another at the dealer lot i would have thought the same thing you did

Diesel Lover,
Another thing to consider if you can If 40 Hp is all you need this won't apply but i your going to need 50 - 60 hp The Utility tractors Like the M5140 if you can still find one and M6060 are several thousand cheaper than the Grand L's of the same horse power. The utility tractors have with more base content like Draft Control- SSQA buckets - Standard rear hydraulic outlet.

This same trend occurs with JD and other Oems i looked at Bigger Tractor does not necessarily mean more money. Something to consider
L4060DT - 4WD TRACTOR W/FOLDABLE ROPS- Syncronized trans with SSQA, Draft Control, 1 rear outlet is $34500
L4060HST - 4WD HST TRACTOR W/FOLDABLE ROPS - hydrostatic same content as above $36100
M5140HD - 4WD TRACTOR W/HYDRAULIC SHUTTLE & ROPS - Draft control other stuff standard is 35,035.00 a mere $500 more than the Syncro trans and this is power shuttle and that gets you 52 hp versus the 40 not to mention a whole lot more tractor and loader
M6060HD - 4WD TRACTOR W/HYDRAULIC SHUTTLE & ROPS $39642 everything is standard
in comparison the L6060
L6060HST - 4WD HST TRACTOR W/FOLDABLE ROPS with SSQA, Draft Control, 1 rear outlet is $45644 $6000 premium for HST less tractor and a lot less loader
