Our daughter and son in law had a tornado yesterday, it appears to have passed their house 15-20' above the ground, broke off and uprooted several large trees, sucked a garden flag mounted with 4 3" screws in a 4x4 out of its mount and tossed the whole deal along with 30' of of a gum tree about 75 yds to a neighbor's house. We got some strong wind here 3 miles away but zero damage. I saw it coming, the sky was not green but it was a greenish gray and the clouds on the leading edge of the front were moving north as fast as I've ever seen. I told my wife it looked like it could go rotational and it did. A little strange for January but not unheard of.

Thank the Good Lord they were not hurt. Twisters are scary things. If you get a direct hit, it doesn't matter how well built your house is. Sure glad it skipped over their house.

30 this morning high later today in the 50s with rain tonight and tomorrow then colder as the week goes on with a chance of a little white stuff on Wednesday but people north of here will get more. Pond still has a little ice on it but not much, lots of water feeding it though

27F star are bright,temps today somewhere mid 30's.
Ice completely melted from driveway etc. bad news back roads are getting rough ..coating of mud and frost heaves.

25 when I left this AM. Near full moon over the pasture with lazy cloud cover. Gives that old silver shine to everything. Horse got out of their grazing area last night. Went to feed them, and two of them were running up and down the driveway all the way from the back. Man, I don't need that stress. Luck would have it, since it was feeding time, opened up the barn, rattled a few grain buckets and into the stalls they went.

In the 50's this week, minor snow predicted mid-week.

roads are getting rough ..coating of mud and frost heaves

I went to my sister's last night in Princeton NJ for dinner and thought I wrecked a wheel on a big pothole I hit close to their home.
Roads are bad news after the deep freeze we had, potholes everywhere. Driving at night is double trouble, trying to look for deer and potholes...

Good thinking about that cold!
Wife and I have had a pretty persistent cold/cough for about 3 weeks now. I think we caught ours from her sister's kids (they flew in from Arizona).

Coffee is poured. 63° with heavy fog this morning. Heading to 77° with sun and wind in the afternoon. Yesterday brought rain much sooner than forecast. .04", just enough to stop us from watching football games out on patio.
