Me too. And I think about him every time I talk to my Sons about something they are about to do. The goal being that I might be as helpful as my Dad was to me.

One of my Dad's sayings that slightly applies here in regards to financial security: "It's not what you make, it's what you spend".

Another was: "Happiness is not having everything you want, it's wanting everything you have".

On the BEST note of all I just got PReapproved for 150,000$ !!!!! We are looking In the 90 to 125,000 range with 5 acres plus or minus and a two car garage at least. Some have garages and pole barns!

Been lurking a bit. You're showing great ambition and I wish you the best. I'm a huge fan of Dave Ramsey's teachings. Pay cash when you can, the only loan he doesn't call you out for is a mortgage. As for the mortgage, keep in mind that you will be approved for mortgages WAY above what you will feel comfortable paying. So your 90-125 is a great target. With your attitude and skills, you'll be able to do a lot to your property with the MF. Save your money and get a really good one a little later on. :thumbsup:
