Hello friends!

I'm new to welding. I learned just a few months ago, and I just finished my first "serious" build: a boom pole.

What do you think? I designed the thing myself, just looking for photos that people upload to the internet.

I've tested the thing by lifting my tiller (It weighs about 200kg, I think). It seems to hold. I'm happy!!!

Peter;

Nice build but, you should look into rated lifting slings or chains.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, those belts got some beating that day. I have a heavy-duty chain for lifting work now. Better safe than sorry!!

Looks very strong. To really test it chain it to an immovable object and max the 3 point capacity. Bet it will take it.

Actually, I think the boom will bend at the point of the braces with a heavy load, or where the hole is in the side of the boom with a hanger..

What you need is a back bone setup where you add a 6 in riser at the brace point. Then a section of rebar from the 3pt pin across the 6 in riser and then on to the tip.

Is the tubing 1/16 in or 1/4 in?

Like this maybe.

Nice job. Put that back bone in and you'll be fine.
