Actually, I think the boom will bend at the point of the braces with a heavy load, or where the hole is in the side of the boom with a hanger..

What you need is a back bone setup where you add a 6 in riser at the brace point. Then a section of rebar from the 3pt pin across the 6 in riser and then on to the tip.

Is the tubing 1/16 in or 1/4 in?

Like this maybe.

Thanks, J_J, for your suggestions. I'll do that. Tube is 5cm (diameter).

For those that don't know. 5cm = 131⁄32in

What is the wall thickness?

A good boom should be at least 2 in tubing or more and 1/4 in wall thickness.

1/4in = 41⁄64cm

2in = 5.0800cm

I think thickness is 4 - 5 mm (1/4inch =~ 0.6mm)

JJ;

What is the device, on the end of the boom, in your picture?

Thanks

Hello friends!

I'm new to welding. I learned just a few months ago, and I just finished my first "serious" build: a boom pole.

What do you think? I designed the thing myself, just looking for photos that people upload to the internet.

I've tested the thing by lifting my tiller (It weighs about 200kg, I think). It seems to hold. I'm happy!!!

Nice build!! Would make loading your tiller onto a trailer or anything else easy. I'm impressed with how it looks

In order to test it and to photograph it in work, he lifted his tiller.

The attachment on the end of my boom is a tree snipper, limb snipper, limb cutter. etc..

Can reach up about 16 ft.

I can install it in any position to cut small trees horizontal, upside down to cut roots, etc.
