Last time this came up I got trolled by the true believers who couldn't see the difference, I hope it doesn't happen again...

Thomas

If you got trolled it may have been because you seem to lack a basic understanding of economics. Amazon doesn't provide free shipping, or anything else for free; they raise the price on EVERYTHING they sell to cover those costs. Everybody who ships products has to cover those costs one way or another. At least EA will allow you to pick it up locally and save the cost of shipping (some companies won't), and it's not like they're making a secret of that fact. They list their shipping policy, and if someone finds it objectionable, they can go elsewhere.

What you're really saying, without saying it directly, is that you take issue with the way EA words, or describes, their policy. Seems kind of odd unless you're upset with them for some other reason. It's clear that it bothers you enough that you've made this a bone to pick at least a couple of times. The nice thing is, you don't have to do business with them....perfect solution, right?

In similar fashion, I think it was pretty inappropriate for Sweet's to jump on an EA thread and list their own shipping policy, in an obvious competitive one-upmanship attempt, but I'm not going to try causing a big stir over it...I can just take my business elsewhere.

Like their policy or not, EA isn't being tricky, or hiding anything....it's all out there for the world to see. Oh, and I'm not a "true believer", I don't even have my first EA implement yet, but they were certainly helpful, patient, and professional when I ordered from them recently. Based upon that, and the professionalism they've always displayed here, I have another order planned, so they must be doing something right.

And so it begins.

I understand the economics of the situation quite well, thank you.

While you are correct about the need to cover shipping costs, the things I personally buy on Amazon with free shipping are without exception also the lowest price available because otherwise I wouldn't be buying them.

When I buy, where ever I choose to buy from, it is only after researching my total cost for as many available sources as possible, both those with free shipping and those with shipping added.

As has been said already, some quoted prices are presented or advertised artificially low, only to later be boosted by adding shipping, and worse yet, "handling" fees.

I did say directly that I take issue with the wording that is being used, because EA says it is "FREE SHIPPING" when it isn't.

I have no other axe to grind except that there needs to be truth in what is being said. They should have to call apples apples, and oranges oranges.

You are the one who is attacking me, so I think that you are the one with a vested interest somewhere.

I didn't bring this up, I just responded to a falsity that was being promulgated.

BTW, EA does make a secret of the local prices, you have to call as a local pick-up customer to find them out, vs. Ken Sweet's website, where the pick-up prices are openly listed.

Similarly to what you said about buying from them, if you don't like me writing what is true, you don't have to read it, you can feel free to hit the ignore button any time you feel the need.

Have a nice day.

Thomas

I have purchased several implements from EA. All were shipped for free to the closest terminal of my choice. Yes I had to drive one hour each way to pick them up. So what. The quality and price were well worth the trip. You would be doing yourself a favor to do the same. Excuse me for butting in...

Like Steppenwolfe, have no qualms driving to the terminal 43 miles in traffic because of the EA qualituay of the equipment I am picking up. There is a thread on the wicked grapple that I took pictures of the grapple being loaded on my trailer. Picked my BB up at the same YRC terminal. They were great to work with there. Hmmm, I think I can say "Quality Rules"!!

I did have my (since sold after the WG arrived) WildKat grapple delivered. That company did not charge for the home delivery as they were passing within 1/4 mile of house and I told them I had pallet forks to take the load off the truck for them and thus they did not have to change to another truck for delivery.

Irrelevant. Regardless of price, they ARE charging you for shipping, even if you don't see it. It's not "free" in any way, shape, or form.

You are the one who is attacking me, so I think that you are the one with a vested interest somewhere.

I'm not attacking, just pointing out that you either don't know what you're talking about, are confused about how economics work, or are intentionally avoiding the facts. I did that only in the interest of furthering the apples-to-apples discussion you said you prefer. Yeah, a guy who works for the government in Michigan, who doesn't have a single EA attachment, is really likely to have a vested interest in EA...right, that makes total sense.

BTW, EA does make a secret of the local prices, you have to call as a local pick-up customer to find them out, vs. Ken Sweet's website, where the pick-up prices are openly listed.

If they were "secret" you couldn't find those prices out with just an e-mail, or a phone call. Unpublished, or unadvertised would fit, but not secret.

Similarly to what you said about buying from them, if you don't like me writing what is true, you don't have to read it, you can feel free to hit the ignore button any time you feel the need.

You said some things that were true, I just pointed out those that weren't. Facts are facts, economics are economics, and whether you like a policy or not is an opinion. I didn't say anything about the opinions.

I will have a great day...I'm hoping to pick up my first EA attachment at the freight terminal today :drink:

Ok, so I showed Ted this thread before I hit the post button. He said there would be good and bad with it so I brought it on myself. There are some that see it like we intend and, like always, others that would rather believe that they're being deceived.

My intention of this thread was to inform you that our shipping is generally very reasonable, no matter how far away you are from us. I was prepared to receive negatives, and do not take offense....It is what it is!

Rather than relying on an automated shipping calculator, we prefer to handle that ourselves, personally. This provides you with more options and a better explanation of the extremely easy buying process with ETA.
If you have questions regarding shipping or local pick-up(which is not a secret BTW), we are a phone call, email, or TBN PM away. We also have an online chat feature in the top corner of our website that I man during business hours. The chat is challenging for me at times because the phone continues to ring, but I think it is helpful for some customers.

The people that see our policy as intended have done a great job explaining the free shipping philosophy. It could be debated all day, everyday...sorta like pallets,, but when it comes down to it, we do our best to provide you with the best value on the market.

Ted started designing and manufacturing to raise the bar and provide you with higher quality attachments than he could buy as a dealer. Going that extra mile is much harder at times than simply buying and selling, but it is truly worth it!

I hope that our valued customers will continue to share their experiences with everyone! Thank You!

Tomatoes, or maters ; potatoes, or taters ??? Get the picture ?

Obviously, you do have an ax to grind, and your caustic attitude comes through loud and clear. As I previously stated, I am more than willing to drive over two hours round trip to pick up my items delivered to the terminal, FOR FREE... please let us enjoy our relationship with EA, as is. Go pee on someone else's parade.

If someone were to buy an attachment at TSC or similar store, or even some dealers, would they not have to go pick it up?

Yeah some dealers may do "free" delivery, but again as we all know now it's not really free.
