The school officials have a difficult time. If they err on the side of caution, a group of angry parents have to find something to do with their children, while they go to work, and they have to make up the missed day. If they don't cancel school and there's ice on the road, the children can't get home. I hope those who have to spend the night in the gym, will be given credit for time served.

I don't ever remember us getting snow that didn't come up from that way.

I'm glad we had enough snow for sledding. My little boy really enjoyed it.
My coworker Rick had a car upside down in front of his house this morning, so the danger is apparently still present!

Takes a lot of effort to actually roll a car in the snow. How'd that happen?
Anyway, it sure is cold out for down here. Pipes going to our Rinnai water heater (mounted outside) froze this morning for the first time. I sat in the crawlspace heating the copper pipes where they go through the wall with a hair dryer. It was 40 minutes before the hot water came on, and luckily nothing burst.
Coming from VT, my wife and I both had the same thought the first time we saw the water heater on the outside wall, "That's gonna freeze". Builder assured us the pipes were well insulated and that it wouldn't happen because, "You're in the south now." He was right 10 years out of 11

Not sure what happened....it was bottom up when he was leaving for work. He said his road is shaded and still covered in snow/ice since the temp was around 5 this morning. The driver was OK and said they had already called it in.
Yes, terribly cold for down here. I like the mid 30's snows much better!

Funny I was telling our grandkids the same thing a week ago.why when I was a kid we had snow in the summer had to walk to school and it was up hill both ways

Twas down to 6 or 7 this morning. Brrrrrrrrrr. We ran the clothes washer as we went to sleep and set the dishwasher to run at 0200. I got up at 0130 and 0530 to put wood on the fire but the danged house was still at 71. Should be 75ish.
Usually we get some snow and it has melted the day after. We got 2 inches of the snow from the storm and it is still out there. The only melting is from the roof. It is supposed to be in the mid 30's so there should be some melting today....
I ready for winter 2013/2014 to be over.

It's not the cold, or the snow, or the ice that's the problem; it's all the other people trying to be on the road with you.
There's almost nothing I love better than to drive down a long country road with 2 to 3 inches of virgin snow on the road on an early bright sunny morning with nobody in sight for a half hour or more. Smooth, quiet, and at a rate of speed I'm in full control. Peaceful.
Sad to say, but most vehicle drivers on the planet don't have half the brains God gave a retarded opossum.
