Clearing Recently Purchased Land

Wow. That looks a lot different than the old dozer I used as a kid. It had two foot pedals and two handles, but they were just plain steel. And no dashboard at all. But it was old 40 years ago.

Yeah they are pretty fancy now.

The left handle controls direction and speed. Push it forward to go forward, use the thumb buttons to increase or decrease speed. Pull it all the way back to go backwards, the same thumb buttons controls speed in reverse too. Push it left or right to steer. Pushing it all the way left or right makes it counter-rotate.

The right handle controls the blade. Push it forward to lower blade, pull back to raise. Push it left or right to tilt. Use the thumb button to adjust the angle. There is also a button that automatically shakes the blade to help sticky dirt fall off.

The pedal on the floor is a two mode programable decelerator pedal. In one mode, it only decelerates the engine. The next mode slows the travel speed, but won't affect throttle unless you push it all the way in, so all the way in stops the machine and idles the engine.

There are also auto-throttle and traction control settings. All control sensitivity can be adjusted to your preference for the job. The blank spot in the dash is to add a computer monitor to control and monitor the auto-grade laser/gps system.

Here is what the land looked like before I started any clearing:

I took two new panoramic pictures showing the progress made with the dozer.

I am standing where the attached garage will be. This should be very close to the same spot I took the original pictures from, but its kind of hard to tell now! The truck is parked where the detached 30'x40' shop will be.

Very nice work. Are you going to plant grass seed in the spring?

Thanks! My next big job will be getting grass to grow! My plan is to buy Bermuda sprigs from a local farmer and roto-till them in with my Kubota. Hopefully we get enough rain to keep them alive while they set root. :)

Sure does look nice! I love pushing out trees and bush hogging, you don't have to look hard at the end of the day to see what you've accomplished!

Very nice, you've done a tremendous amount of working so far. It doesn't even look like the same place.

Thanks again everyone!

We finally received some moisture in the last week so it's safe to burn. Decided to burn the main brush pile I made with the dozer:
