Great thread! That dozer looks like it moved a lot of material. Are you going to post the pictures of building the house in this thread?

There is something fun about burning a big brush pile on a cold day. The place is looking good.

Best part, on a cold day, is you have a nice warm place to hangout on the upwind side.

Thanks! I'll probably start a new thread for the house construction and link them together.

Thanks again everyone!

We finally received some moisture in the last week so it's safe to burn. Decided to burn the main brush pile I made with the dozer:
Just a warning about radiant heat from burning brush piles. That tree in your picture looks very close.

This pile was mostly dead trees.

This dead tree was not straight down wind, (not much wind) but off to the side a little. I looked over and saw smoke coming from the side of this tree, 150' from the burning pile.

The Fire Chief said it was from radiant heat above the pile.

That tree just wanted to be part of the action!!

I never saw my tree smoking but it is alive... hopefully it didn't get too hot. :)

Some friends rented a track-hoe to clean up a few damaged trees from the May 19th 2013 tornadoes... There were a few big groups of old Pecan trees in the middle of a farm field. I wish I would have taken more pictures...

Here is a picture of my friend Matt moving a Pecan stump and then a few pics I took while operating it.

Me digging a hole so we could push what didn't burn into it... D6 in the background...

Sun is going down!

Trying to finish up. Clearing a fence row next to a farm field:

You grow them big down there

It's a shame that the trees had to go... they were well over 100 years old. I will take a picture of some of the big ones the next time I'm out there.

I like to leave the big old trees. They are such a pain to remove anyway and they often make the place look like it has character.
