Clearing Recently Purchased Land

You sure can do a lot with a excavator. My Dad has a Cat 312BL and it constantly amazes me every time i use it.

I cleared a right-of-way on the west side of my property for overhead power lines. It took a while but I am finally uploading pictures! Had several large trees to cut down and a nasty ditch to cross. The "ditch" is on the backside of my neighbors pond dam and turns into a creek that feeds our pond about 300' downstream.

I burnt some brush then pushed in the remains from my large brush pile made with the Dozer into a hole. It took a few hours but I got the hole covered up and smoother out. I spread some the grass seed out too. I hoe we get that 1/2" of rain they are forecasting for tomorrow!!

In the last few weeks I've gotten power back to the building site and built a temporary service pole. We had the well dug also. 130' deep and 30-35 GPM, water tastes great. I'm still going to send a sample in for analysis to be on the safe side.

Yesterday, friend and I put up a gate at my property line. We used cedar trees I had cut down for the posts. I bought a regular ol' 16' gate from Tractor Supply. This will be up a few years before I build an all metal entry and install an automatic gate opener. I want to be living out here so I can weld it up in the garage and then go set it easily.

The rye grass is starting to take hold also. I'll post a pic in a well or so. There's a lot of green in person but it's not very noticeable in a picture right now.

I came out to the land today to watch the storms roll in. Hopefully we get enough rain to see if the water flows where I intended it to!
