Advise for a first time Welder

If you guys want to see a beauty...
We have a welder in the barn just like this one and it still works...
Don't know how much it weighs but it is heavy...
My dad purchased this thing back in the early 50's and it was used...
I assume that it is a 1940's vintage...
It is what I learned on...
It is an AO Smith model 25-18...
The plates on it states 45 primary amps with a serial # of 25-16535...
If anybody knows anything about it I would appreciate any information...

I think it looks kinda like R2D2. Just needs a clear dome on top. :laughing:

My tip:
If you're confident in the integrity of your welds but they don't look exactly professional...And you want to paint your project...
...a little bondo (body filler) fingered into any gaps, cavities, crevices etc. along the beads will greatly improve the look when painted...it also keeps water from getting into said cavities etc...

Or, use a die grinder to smooth them out and remove the bird poop.

Putty and paint will make a weldor what he ain't

(experienced weldor looking at newby's just finished weldment, ) Better put a bolt through that if you want it to hold
