RAM 3500 Question

   / RAM 3500 Question #21
Well, If I entered the info correctly on Kelly Blue Book . Dealer price for this truck should be $19,330.00 (fair purchase price). I think the price they are asking is too high. It may be a good truck and would be a HUGH up grade from your Dakota but, It has too many miles for me. I under stood that the DPF has a life span ( don't know what that is) they say they are expensive...That's a darn good looking truck for the miles !!!

Just as an FYI - watch for trucks that have tuners (such as the Craigslist post) - Run correctly they have their place but they also can do some major damage it tuned incorrectly...

The price is up to what you want to pay, look at all the tools online and decide what make you happy. As far as the truck if it has been taken care of the whole truck has lots of life left in it, any brand now if maintenance is kept up with will last a long time. Just be ready with that kind of mileage to be performing maintenance as you go, u-joint and bearings are going to be due unless just done.

I had 430,000 on my 04 when I sold it and I had taken it on a 750 mile trip the week before. It did have some odd things wear out, but all in all I would have drove it any were.
If you buy just don't tell anyone the miles and they will never know the difference.

my 99 f350 has a bit less than that. and yeah.. she's showing plenty of wear even though she has life left.

a 10 with that many miles must have been hauling over the road straight!

like 60k per year.. that's 5k per month!!!

Ya.. sounds like it was owned by a 'UShip' guy..

to the OP, that sure seems like a lot of miles for the $. Just for gits and shiggles, I looked on CL in VT, where I live. What about something like this?

2011 dodge ram 2500 cummins Deisel

I know it could go either way… but as a general rule, unless the deal is too good to pass up, I generally don’t try to buy anything that has had much done to it. I just like to keep the surprises to a minimum.

That was the same thing that I got as well with KBB. I looked up the NADA and I think it was around $32k. That is a huge discrepancy. According to Black Book, one would be looking at around $26k for a trade in value.

Yeah, I’ve never paid anyone to do work on my vehicles… and this truck will be no exception - if I can help it. I had to do a crank (rods / mains and other whatnots while I was in there) on our 2001 Dakota 4.7L, heads on plenty of vehicles, change engines / transmissions, did the crank in my brother in laws G20 van for him this past fall, piston replacements, and a whole bunch of other crap that comes from having $50 vehicles that were laying in fields. I don’t know it all, but that’s what the internet is for :D

Well… I did buy it last night! I think the keeping my mouth shut is going to be the plan. I’m not too worried about it though… Just take whatever happens as it comes - no sense worrying about what if’s sometimes.

The kids sure are happy about it:

The last picture with the Dakota. Was a good truck to have:

I don't think I need to upgrade anytime soon. Looking forward to many years of service out of it.
