RAM 3500 Question

/ RAM 3500 Question #62
I had a 70 Challenger i restored over 20 years ago and put a u-joint in it. That was the last time I did one, I don't remember even how to do it but I remember a big hammer was involved and I had a heck of a time getting the old one out.

Yeah, I'm not sure but I think they were only made with the 5.9 about a year and half, rare as hens teeth.

Correct. O6 and Half the 07 models. Then came the emission requirements. I had a 11 but decided to go back to the 5.9 because of mileage. The new diesels that the Big 3 are using are great and powerful engines but just too complicated for me.

/ RAM 3500 Question #65
Seems like it's wearing good for how you use it. Take care of them 10 small items ASAP or it will mound up and lead to bigger issues. These are the Nickel and Dime items I was speaking of. Chris

Have you ever put 288,000 miles on a vehicle? The fords have just as much nickel and dime stuff if not more. The 02 ford F 250 7.3 I put 200,000 miles on was on its 3rd set of ball joints, pinion leaks front and rear had to be fixed, The 4wd components in the front in had to be completely rebuilt. I did get 200,000 out of the factory clutch. There's more but I think you get my point.

No. 190,000 miles is the most.

You are right, at that point if they body is left all brands will nickel and dime you. That's why I trade at 120,000 miles on average.

A 12v Cummins is just getting broke in at 190,000. And the body last a long time down south. You can get your money's worth for sure, and with a few mods they pull like a freight train.

/ RAM 3500 Question #68
I have a handful of customers with first gen 12 valves, between a quarter and half mil miles, still fire on the first revolution when starting. The trucks are quite literally falling apart around the drivetrains. Hoods held shut with wire, doors that have to be picked up to hit the latch, etc. And no body panel matching the other from being replaced with used pieces. Almost comical, old farmers just won't give them up. "If it ain't broke..."

Thought it was time to bump the thread... Did you cross 300k yet?

Nice have you had any major problems with it?

No major problems really, just maintenance stuff, but every once in a while it acts like an injector or something might be acting up. It also kind of sounds like the engine brake is on when it happens. I let off the pedal and it stops and is fine after that for a while (months). Haven't looked into it too much, but I'm sure it'll be an issue one day.

Ok, got rid of the 2010 and bought a new 2016 RAM 3500 (DRW, 8ft bed, Aisin, 4:10's, Laramie, Crew Cab, 4x4, factory gooseneck prep). The old truck did pretty good... was just about to hit 320,000 miles, but I wanted to be able to tow/haul more, and the turbo was acting up (P2262).

Gave me $14k for the 2010. Asking for the new truck? New truck was $66k.

Nice new truck, you sure got your use out of the 2010 and not to bad on the trade-in price for 300,000miles on it. My 2011 just rolled over 48,000 miles and I would be ecstatic to make 300,000+ without major issues.
