Hello, I was contemplating on putting a 3 point hitch on the front of the tractor with a front PTO, my question is if I got a 3 point snow blower could I use it as a front mount snow blower? Could it handle the stresses of being pushed rather than pulled?

Thank you.
Corey

You can put a rear blower on the front. If you don't have a front PTO you will need to get a reverser gear box and put it behind your rear PTO and run a long driveline under the tractor. If you have a front PTO (like my tractor does) you get rid of all the extra drivelines out the back and under the tractor but you will probably still need a reverser gear box.

Thank you, so the front PTO spins the opposite direction I take it? The front 3 point hitch and front PTO are field installed options I am considering.

TBN user grsthegreat, has a loader mounted hydraulic blower, it is run by a rear three point mounted hydraulic power unit (tank and pump on back, run by rear PTO), hoses run up front to the blower.

He has pics on here somewhere, I've seen them before.
He can swap from the blower to front bucket in a couple minutes, if I was looking for a front blower, that's what I would be interested in.

Maybe he will chime in, or you can find the pics.

Duh, I never thought of a hydraulic motor. What a great idea.

That would be cool to see, I was thinking more to keep compact and maneuverable if it was on the front 3 point it would be closer to the tractor instead of way out in front like the loader would be.

I have a Kubota L39TBL that doesn't have a mid PTO so I added a rear pump and skid steer snow blower (Loftness 60")(39 has quick release FEL) Works great. Current project is rebuilding an Arians tractor front blower(48") and adding hydraulic motor. about to test frow reate versus rpm etc.

Don't forget rear PTO is 540RPM.. front PTO is 2000RPM

My rear is 540/540E/1000E because it's multi speed I would have figured the front would be multi speed as well just programmed from the computer like everything else in the tractor.

From what i can see in the brochure, it is 1000RPM

Depending on the tractor and its horesepower you should also look at the PTO attachments
with the three point mount kits that are connected to your crankshaft flywheel which may
cost you much less money to install as the Erskine shaft drive systems can get into the 20
plus thousand dollar cost.

If you tractor is a hydro unit and has an option for a swivel seat and large truck mirrors
that would be much less costly for you where youy could buy an 8 foot snow caster for
much less money involved.

Would it spin the right way (clockwise) or would it be reversed?

So they don't attach by PTO then? Just straight to the crankshaft flywheel? That could be an option if so. My tractor has auto quad plus transmission not the IVT transmission. It does have a swivel seat and large truck mirrors.

Corey9212,

Does your tractor have a foot pedal for forward and reverse?
Once the blowers on the ground it becomes an anchor and it will stop
fairly quickly.

For the money you would be better off adding a rear view camera
and the widest Pronovost two auger snow blower for your tractor.

No it's a geared tractor, so how would that become an anchor and not a blade attached to the frame not become one? (Or does it as well cause I do see a lot of those on tractors.)
That could be an option though never thought to use a back up camera. The cool thing is my command center has a feature where it will display cameras on it so I already have the monitor and just need the camera.

I have an Ag cam of a back up camera. it does help on the long drives
I will have a look and see if it's compatible with my command center monitor. Only thing better I guess would be a swivel cab.

The Ag camera does help, but so wouldn't a good set of mirrors. The cost to put factory mirrors on was more than the camera.

From what I know of the front crankshaft PTO units they run the right way
with the reversing gearbox Corey 9212.

This is why I suggested you use a rear mount for much less money AND

You will be see everything in front of the snow caster as you are above
and behind the snow clearer.

I am curious to know how the front crankshaft PTO units work. Do they get turned off and on with an electro magnetic clutch like a garden tractor PTO?

The last time I saw one was two years ago at the Empire Farm Days.

Fom what I remember they were electric clutch operated.
The builders were a couple of European outfits
from Great Britain and Germany.
