JD 3038E vs Kubota L3200

No offense, but you don't have the experience to have those comments mean much after owning a tractor for a few weeks. Run a similar machine with a 3 range hydro for a while, and you'd very likely see the need, or at least the significant advantage to them. When I say run one, I mean spend a day doing work with one...it will be obvious at that point. The extra weight may, or may not become a factor, but it's unusual for anybody to try making their tractors lighter over time....it's almost always heaver.

I could really give a **** less what you think.

Sheesh man, stop taking things so personally. Everybody has to start out somewhere, and it's not like I consider myself a major expert. You're here stating opinions about how you don't see the difference, and the fact is, if you had some experience, maybe you would see those differences.

I rarely use low so I need a 3 range trans. My dirt pile is a good distance to the back so its in med to scoop slip it in high and skedaddle to the back.

I don't know about comparing JD to Kubota, but we used an old 1979 40 horse Ford on out farm(and still do). We bought a 40 horse Kubota and found out it is too light weight to do the things the say it can do. Very scary tractor. Must have weight on back or front the do any type of lifting. I would not recommend a Kubota to anyone.

Gloria,
Is this a function of the size of tractor purchased? Or are you saying Kubota was lighter than the equivalent Deere 40 hp tractor?

Many posters on TBN will say Kubota is usually heavier and built heavier than Deere compacts & subcompacts. Are you comparing tractor categories instead of tractors?

I have no skin in this debate - I own a Deere. Just curious.

Stop with the crazy talk! What nobody seems to ever mention is that less powerful tractors need the extra range more than the bigger tractors do....they don't build them that way because of cost, but they would work better that way.

Whats so crazy about moving dirt in high?

Well this weekend Low was needed to move those big freaking Trees. Medium was needed to push all the piles of limbs. And high was needed to go 1 block to move dirt in medium. Oh and I like low to load it on the trailer LOL!
3 speeds will be a big help to me in the woods...speaking of...no one answered me...does planting food crops for deer, then harvesting deer count or make me a farmer?
This has to be the best debate on this group.
To settle it...lets get the 3038E and the L3200 and have a stand off. Push one another, pull one another, so on and so forth. Oh and we have to see who has to refuel first and such. Anyone game...not me I'm not ready to scratch my paint yet! LMAO...I still have stickers on my tires. I love this place...all I need is a beer and a day without rain.

Here is for ALL of you tractor guys...you will appreciate this. BTW not my choice of drink but you will get the point. Here's to Earning It - 60 seconds - YouTube
