JD 3038E vs Kubota L3200

I studied the same for months, JD vs. Kubota. I bought the L3800, its bigger, heavier, front loader comes off, and I could add a backhoe (I did). I really wanted the JD but to get the same capability you had to move up to the 3000/20 series, then the price is mid $20's. One plus for the JD was service, my local JD guy would come out to service it while I have to trailer my tractor to the Kubota dealer for service.

What he said! I like the L3800 especially with Bobcat(and others)quick-tach system which makes it easy get reasonably priced attachments.

I have a fused ankle and just testing the kubota's put me in tears
I think seat time is most important than anything so I'll give up the extras and be happy when I spend a full day on my JD

I can see where that would be a PITA for sure with a bad ankle. That is where seat time helps out.

Oh ya ran a set of disc last night that my buddy has for his JD said they were too big for his tractor (3038E). He just purchased 5 acres and we cleared it and now running disc and drags to get it as smooth as possible. Just to report the 3200 pulled the disc no different than my set. I hope to maybe do a swap with him. I get heavier disc and a foot more cutting and he gets a set his JD can drag with out chugging the whole time. I will work on him more tonight. :)

I'm a Green & Yellow Guy, but 4 years ago married a woman who had a Kubota B2100. For the most part it is an "okay" tractor, but I hate the forward/reverse pedal. Reverse is a real pain, because when you back-up you are twisted & turned around to see back, & most keep your right foot on the pedal. I've done a lot of it this winter, w/ a 3 pt. snow-blower on the back of the Kubota. Also your brakes will last for-ever, because when your right foot is on either of the F/R pedals, there is no way that you can use a brake pedal, which would be helpful sometimes. So, all the brakes are good for is "parking", like when you are servicing the unit. Personally I would certainly recommend the JD Tractor.

This thread sure did bring in a lot of new posters.

@hlulks - Breaks are only good for parking or break steering when you own an HST. I like it just like my zero turn mower...never need to break. When you want to swing that baby on a dime is when you need them. With the HST model you have to get the Cruise Control option. That will allow you to move forward without having your foot on the HST pedal. Then you can press either left or right break and spin her around. Push both breaks and it takes her to a stop and disengages the cruise control. (supposed too anyway)

@Murph - this Thread brings the zoo to life. It's awesome to see so many people chiming in like me. Cant wait for the weekend I need to see if I can get over 15 hrs or better LOL!

Not dogging you fella ... when you say something is "better" and you pick points of contention like "metal vs plastic" or "paint quality" or "implement choices" etc etc etc .... realize that those things are opinions. Some people may believe that plastic is better. Some people may think the JD paint is better, and so on.

The only things that are NOT opinion or hyperbole are straight factual comparisons like HP, hydraulic flow, lift specs, etc.

True, but not at the same time. Those numbers are WAY too easy to mess with. For example, there are tractors who's loader capacity is ratted at a pressure the tractor is unable to produce, or loader specs where the posted specification is in excess of the front axle capacity.

Do you have specific examples of that? Most literature I've seen for most brands display & specify which operating pressure was used for the specification.
