Ford 3000 Coolant Leak - Bad News?

Just did the freeze plugs on my 73 3000 during a clutch job. If it's the two on the rear of block you'll have to split it. If it's the one on the back of head I suppose you can do it without a split but sure seems like it would be hard. I recommend you use permatex 2 as a sealer on the plugs.

i agree.. a micro smear on the plugs and core hole is never a bad deal.. just don't overdo it..

Hey I was wondering if you ever found the source of the leak. I just found a leak in my ford 555, and am hoping it's not the lower rear freeze plug, but it looks like it might be. Coolant behind the starter like you. Will try a run or two of bars leaks 1109 first, hopefully that does it. Just looking to some good news

uck! bars leaks is just good at plugging up narrow passageways.

if you have a core plug leaking.. bars leaks is NOT the answer!

Yea I don't really want to separate the whole machine. Any suggestions?

some times you have few choices.

Well looks like I'll tackle the split then.
I've read through it in the service manual. Hope it's not a cracked block

ps. if you find 1 core plug bad.. consider they are likely ALL the same age!

Yep ill do all 3 on the back while it's split. Side freeze plug looks good.
