Sure... the story is EPA... then again, what's the real difference if it's the EPA, State, County or City telling you?
In my case, it's the regional air quality board that governs 9 counties...
In my friends case in Oregon, it's the State.
Even with a ban only on cold winter days where I live... if you were to stop and ask random people on the street... as the media did, just about everyone would say wood burning is banned... this is how effective the media blitz has been.
What makes State and Local rules onerous... is they are retroactive... something that was OK is now not or maybe OK unless you sell and then not.
We have over 30 smoke police that do nothing but follow up on chimney smoke and billboards urging neighbors to call in suspicious smoke... not to the fire department but, to the smoke police.
Might as well go for broke...
My brother is in contract to buy a property zoned AG... it has a modest home with a LOPI wood stove the owners use for primary heat... installed with permit with stainless flue pipe, etc.
His problem is every insurance company he has contacted so far, including the one that insures the home and the company he has on his home want the stove removed... none has made a site visit.
Nice little stove on a slate floor... one would think the house had gas lighting.
