Looking at buying BX25D - questions on the BX's in general

4SHORTS - That is a pretty nice sized rock you had by your hoe - was the BX able to move it around? I figured it can't lift it but if it drug it from the hole that is impressive!!

Well I started out digging at it thinking its a small rock but as time went on that rock just kept getting bigger
Finally I started to feel a little movement and knew I was winning the battle. It couldn't lift it so I got the back hoe bucket under it and pulled it out. I come from a heavy equipment background so I know what to expect from different sizes of equipment and out of everything I've ever operated this BX has exceeded my expectations the most.

Yes I could have put a back hoe on the 5740 but after operating backhoes in the past I just didn't want to leave a nice cool air conditioned cab and sit out on a back hoe plus the fact the 5740 couldn't have went where I needed to do the work.

The BX25-D is a keeper. I enjoy the open station and easy on easy off operation of it. I only use it in the summer months but I can't get over how much I enjoy owning it.

I laughed at the power wheel barrel comment - the other night I had my 5100 sitting on the driveway while I shoveled dirt from my ditch into the bucket. Why into the bucket - so I won't have to get the wheel barrel and push the heavy wet clay 100 yards away to dump it over the hill.....Kept thinking I can't wait to get a little backhoe so I can quit trying to shovel wet clay out of ditches..

Your scenario reminded me of some of my own digging. When I need to move the spoils, I park a 10 cubic foot cart behind my garden tractor next to the hole, then use the BX backhoe to dump into the cart. Saves a step except dumping out of the cart is not as nice as dumping a FEL load. But, I foresee you digging with your soon-to-be BX25D and putting the spoils into your MX5100 bucket. Then just drive and dump as/where needed. Great set up when you need to or want to move the spoils. Just a little added incentive for you. LOL

Will be going to Barlows tomorrow to see price for trading my B2620 FEL BH with under 40 hours to a BX25D. Who wants a B2620 FEL BH under 40 hours for $21,000? Hate these Kubota cash rewards certificates. :D :D :D

If you finance take that into account....0% even with the $700 added on is a real deal...then you can add attachments and get 0% on the entire kit.

I looked at a 1 series that was used with .4 hours...yup used and .4 hours....seems the guy that bought it passed away and never got to use it. It was setup just like I want....loader, backhoe MMM for $18k. But with the financing at 0% for the Kubota it ended up being cheaper in the long run....if someone can do cash that would be a heck of a deal.

4Shorts - ok that is impressive for this small of a machine! Most of my work will be a great deal smaller so I doubt I have anything to worry about. Thanks for the follow up!
Today we ended up getting a BX purchased and will be picking it up on Friday so I am looking forward to seeing what we can do.
I am also interested if the 60" MMM will even add more stability to the BX on hills. Seems that much weight 3" off the ground would have to help. I also love hearing people are having no problems sidehilling them. Most places I cut up and down but there a few places where I have to cross the hill. Nothing crazy but something I pay attention to, that is for sure. We previously used a B7200 with the rears set wide (maybe 52" wide) so I sort of got used to the stability of that little machine.
CHDinCT- my plan was exactly as you said - load the 5100 with the BX. We also have one of those 4 wheel ATV wagons with the electric lift/dump so I figure I can fill the bucket, turn the 5100 around then fill the dump cart so every run will be moving a LOT of dirt. Great minds must think a like! Ha Ha

After great debate I went with the R4's. The only reason is our back hill gets rather slick and I loaded the turf tires up on the zero turn so thought the R4 may do better. Guess time will tell huh....
Thanks!!!

Good deal....I have used mine 15 hours so far and I have already done so much with it....thing that I know would NEVER have gotten done.

Only down side to the entire BX thing is.....

(you knew it was coming)

I am working too much...I don't move around like I once did and now I am out there playing....yes playing (I am not going to tell my wife it is like having a big Tonka truck she thinks it is work) and I am pretty darn sore.

It is actually good the weather took another nose dive in temps....keeps me inside.

I think you will be happy with the tire choice. I have noticed they do tend to be a little hard on the grass when you are digging...going back and forth and such. But when just driving and turning they did not seem to do much damage.

So far the only real short coming of the tractor are the backhoe feet....4shorts made his bigger, and I am thinking I am going to have to weld up something to make a wider foot print.
